Throwing kids’ birthday parties can be way sadder than people talk about.

You plan for weeks.
You pick the theme.
Wrap the gifts.
Blow up balloons at midnight.
Clean the house.
Order the cake.
Buy extra food so everyone has enough.

Your kid wakes up SO excited talking about their friends coming.
And then the texts start rolling in…

“Something came up.”
“We can’t make it.”
“Rain check.”
“Sorry, last minute.”

And I get it. I really do. Life happens. Kids get sick. Things come up.
But wow… it still stings.

Because you’re not just planning a party you’re trying to make magic for your baby.

And when half the room is empty, it hurts in a way only a mom understands.
So yeah… I’ll probably still go over the top.
Still decorate.
Still show up big.

Even if it’s just us and two cupcakes at the table.
Because they deserve to feel celebrated no matter who shows up.
