Behind every field of beautiful blooms are a few losses along the way.

Today I tracked down one of my missing dahlias and found tuber rot. It’s never fun to see, but it’s a reminder that farming is always a mix of patience, problem solving, and a little bit of luck.

Thankfully, the rest of the field is waking up beautifully, and this spot will soon have a new dahlia growing in its place. 🌸

I think I said this is the LAST dahlia order over 10 orders ago. But anyway, I’m saying it again. My last tubers have arrived and they are some pretty special varieties! 🌸🌸🌸 In the garden, I may have overshot my spacing just slightly- 😬
I’m hoping to till up a couple more rows this weekend. That way I can fit everything in I need for the season. With this batch of dahlia tubers, I believe I’m coming close to 300 dahlias that will be planted here! Which means this fall I’m going to be quite busy digging, dividing, and storing all these baby tubers! But we aren’t there yet, it’s almost flower season, follow along to see the garden grow! 😅 🌸 🤗

Welcome to Wild North Dahlia Co. 🌸

What started as a love for flowers has slowly grown into something bigger.

This season we're growing specialty dahlias, snapdragons, zinnias, strawflower, and a few MORE beautiful blooms right here in Alexandria Minnesota.

The garden is planted (mostly) the seedlings are growing, and now the real work begins!

Follow along as we share the successes, failures, muddy boots, and pretty flowers along the way.
