The one many can’t stop talking about today⬇️

The returned items include bronze statues of a bird, a warrior king, a cockerel, and a wooden ancestral head originally taken from the Kingdom of Benin during the late 19th century colonial raids.

Some of the artifacts were symbolically handed over to the Oba of Benin in Edo State, where they were first looted over a century ago, per the BBC.

A few of my favorites from a pretty Fall day in Baltimore at the .
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This was one of those days that you blink and the fun is over. We started the day at . Where our bride got dressed with her Mom, mother in law, officiant and close friend.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We then made our way to the gardens of the BMA where our couple shared their first look (photos coming later)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We get used to seeing the obvious moments ( first kiss, first dance, first look) but here are so many others that are just as special! Here are few “blink and you might miss it” moments that stood out to me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- post ceremony excitement and kiss on the hand
- the bride sharing some love with niece
- everyone pitching in to make sure the dress is just right
- ceremony tears of joy
- family
- reception fun
- a fun dance with dad
- sharing some just married reception giggles
- tipsy cake cutting kisses
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re “worried” about posing, don’t! not one of these photos involved any direction, instruction, or fixing. These moments just happened and moments happen at every wedding and as you create them organically I capture them. No other work involved other than being you and enjoying yourself.

I took my family to visit the near Union Station and couldn’t help but remember this fun engagement session with the Robinson’s. I have been blessed with so many fun memories all over the DMV with my couples!

One of the most beautiful things about weddings is that no matter how many blogs you read, how many times you practice your first dance, or how perfectly you plan every detail, there’s always an element of unknown. There are “what ifs,” “I hopes,” and “better nots.” These unplanned moments are what make the day uniquely yours, and what makes your photos truly authentic.

Commit to enjoying yourselves, even if things don’t go exactly as planned. The day goes by so fast—one moment you’re getting dressed, the next, you’re dancing your last dance. Build a realistic timeline that lets you savor each moment, connect with loved ones, and laugh freely.

My couple pictured in this series had a timeline that was created so thoughtfully that the bride could walk to the venue from her hotel with her friends, sharing laughs along the way. She even bumped into , who happily stopped to chat and take photos! She was able to have meaningful first looks with her bridesmaids, her dad, and her soon-to-be husband, all without rushing.

If you want your wedding day captured in a genuine, documentary style, give yourself the space to breathe, pause, and truly live in the moment. Work with vendors who understand and support this approach. If you’re constantly rushing from one activity to the next, you might miss the magic. & what good are photos if you don’t experience the magic ?
