Patience. Persistence. Consistency. Faith.
(Most) Good things (often) take (a lot of) time.
This will be the first Summer for figs.
This fig tree was planted with great expectation in 2021.
In 2022, the hubs thought it was a w**d and whacked it with the w**d whacker. RIP fig tree. But…
Despite the odds, the little fig persisted and continued to grow after being hopefully tended, safely encircled by a piece of edging, fertilized, and mulched.
A late frost this year zapped the buds and any hope of fruit. But…
The green leaves budded and burst from branches. Filling the air with the scent of sweet hope and this week…fruit!! This will be the first year in 5 long years that we actually have fruit from this little grocery store tree.
This fig tree has not withered. It has, in fact, blossomed and finally, come into its purpose, bearing fruit. A reminder and living proof that when we are patient and consistent, remaining hopeful, steadfast, believing, even in the setbacks, the fruit appears.
And it is delightful.
