Your tone sets someone else’s day

Some maxis drive you to work. Some TAKE you to work. If you know, you know.

There are a few drivers I could call by name, but this morning I’m mentioning Mr. Garnet Quamina. Every time I step into his maxi, there’s a certain ease to the long drive.. The AC is cool and clean. This morning the maxi smelled like fresh cherries and I actually paused to compliment him on it. It is the kind of detail most people would overlook, but it changes the feel of the whole ride.

He is usually tuned in to Sky 99.5 FM. He drives fast, but never reckless. He will make brief, polite conversation, just enough to acknowledge you as a person, not so much that it becomes draining before the day even starts. There is a quiet professionalism there that feels intentional.

I know this is a long preamble just to say good morning…. But I have come to realize The taxi you catch on the corner, the food vendor you stop by first thing in the morning all shape the tone of your day.

So good morning, neighbours. A special good morning to the Maxi, Taxi and Bus drivers who do more than move us from point A to point B. The ones who show up clean, courteous and consistent. It does not go unnoticed.

Another day closer to the weekend. Hang in there.
