We’re excited to welcome Prapat Jiwarangsan, acclaimed Thai visual artist and filmmaker, and Graiwoot Chulphongsathorn, producer and academic from Chulalongkorn University, to SYNTOPIA 2025 for a special screening and talk session.

📽 The screening consists of 4 shorts and 1 medium length film, which will be screened in 3 sessions with talks in between each session.

🎓 Prapat Jiwarangsan:
Prapat Jiwarangsan is a Thai visual artist and filmmaker. Graduated from London’s Royal College of Art, Jiwarangsan has worked since 2011. In his creative explorations, he usually incorporates a variety of media, especially photographs, slides, and video, in order to investigate and represent the relationships between history, memory, and politics in Thailand. His installations have appeared in Bangkok, London, Berlin, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Kyoto, Seoul, and Singapore while his videos have screened at international film events such as Berlin International Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, International Film Festival Oberhausen, Ann Arbor Film Festival, and Singapore International Film Festival.

🎓 Graiwoot Chulphongsathorn:
Graiwoot Chulphongsathorn is a lecturer at the Department of Motion Pictures and Still Photography, Faculty of Communication Arts, Chulalongkorn University. He holds a PhD from Queen Mary University of London. Chulphongsathorn’s area of research are in eco-cinema, post-anthropocentrism, film theory, and artist’s moving image. He has published numerous works in international journals and textbooks, including Screen, Journal of Cinema and Media Studies (JCMS), Cahiers du Cinéma, Moving Image Review and Art Journal (MIRAJ), and The Routledge Companion to Asian Cinema. In addition to his academic work, Chulphongsathorn has produced Prapat Jiwarangsan’s films and installations since 2015.
