Each season, we shall invite several artists to exhibit their amazing artworks, as well as other well-known artists, writers and musicians to give talks or perform at the exhibition. This is where everyone interacts and achieves synergy. We hope this draws people from all walks of life to appreciate traditional art forms, encouraging artists to take flight with their artistic talents and creative practices from the heartlands.

《严谨与感性》许笑艺术遗作精品展
14-22/09/2026 • 11.00am - 6.00pm
@新加坡艺术空间
66 Kallang Pudding Road Singapore 349324

RIGOUR AND SENSIBILITY — a Selection of Masterpieces from the Posthumous Art of Malcolm Koh. His legacy is a body of work where architecture meets art, and rigour meets the human spirit.

Exhibition opens to public until 22 September 2026 (11am to 6pm).

Venue: THE ART SPACE SG, 66 Kalang Pudding Rd, Singapore 349324.

About the Artist:
Malcolm Koh was a rare architect-painter whose work united the precision of architecture with the poetry of art. Trained from a young age under Wu Zishen of the Shanghai School, Koh brought together his mastery of space, perspective and structure with a sensitive eye for light, colour and human life.

His paintings—of cities, streets, landscapes and people—capture not only what he saw, but also the spirit and atmosphere of each moment. His plein-air works are especially distinguished by their freshness, spontaneity and keen observation.

His art reflects a rare balance of structure and emotion, discipline and freedom, precision and sensibility. Koh saw light with an artist’s eye and space with an architect’s mind.

Celebrating 41 Years of Passion and Dedication

The opening ceremony of the first talent show of the Xinzhi Educational Reading Club once again demonstrated the club’s remarkable organisational spirit and vitality.

Forty-one years have passed, yet the enthusiasm and passion remain undiminished. From planning the programmes and collecting works to preparing the exhibition and coordinating the many details, the Board members devoted tremendous time, energy and effort to make this inaugural talent show a success.

It also made me think of the founding members 41 years ago. They must have been equally passionate and full of energy—busy organising activities, bringing people together, and travelling from place to place to build an organisation that combines a love of reading with friendship, creativity and vitality.

Forty-one years on, that spirit continues to shine. It is this enduring passion and commitment that gives the Xinzhi Educational Reading Club its special character and keeps its journey moving forward. 👏📚
