FORMALISING THE INFORMAL - FORMALISING A SYSTEM FOR MEETINGS WITH EXCEPTIONAL PEOPLE

Who is Galaxy X, and what do we do?

If you want to apply for a job, there is a formal procedure to follow - prepare CV/resume, prepare cover letter, submit to the company, or go to job websites, employment agencies.... then, go for job interviews.

If you want to apply to do a degree at a university, there is also a formal procedure to follow. Go to the university website, fill up online forms, submit documents, make payment, and (sometimes) go for interview.

But if you want to meet someone really exceptional, and it is very hard for you to arrange to do so by yourself, eg a former prime minister, a Nobel Prize winner, a businessman who appeared in Forbes, an Olympic athlete, or someone who founded a nonprofit organisation which changed the world eg Wikipedia, or someone with extensive expertise (over 20 years) in a specific subject, or someone with rare life experience eg survived Sep-11 attack, or someone who speaks a rare language, etc, there is no formal system in place for you to "make an application".

Galaxy X aims to become that platform, to become that formal system, to become a global system of agents, networks and users to help everyone to make connections, to reduce the friction/risk of getting ignored or rejection.

Once upon a time, jobs titles did not exist. Universities did not exist. But we defined them, outlined their scope, and created them.

Will you join us to help create Galaxy X?

Stars and galaxies are very far from us, and it's generally very hard to reach them. But that is what makes getting there exciting.

"OTROVERT"

A new term seems to have cropped up recently - "Otrovert" (as opposed to introvert or extrovert). An otrovert is someone who loves 1-1 meetings, but doesn't like group meetings (unlike extroverts), and doesn't like being completely alone for too long either (unlike introverts).

An otrovert would find Galaxy X very appealing, because 1-1 meetings are what we focus on. Meet interesting people 1-1 through Galaxy X - exceptional people, people with extensive knowledge, experience, expertise, rare skills, high achievers, record breakers, famous people, you name it!

Social Media, Smartphones and Zoom have changed the way we socially interact.

If you could create the next big innovation to revolutionise how we socially interact, what would you create?

Digital Pheromones?

Ladies, and Gentlemen, I bring you, Galaxy X!

A platform where you can "exceptionalise" yourself, turn yourself into a star. Tell us what makes you different from the rest of the world. Tell us something about you which takes people's breath away, and make people instantly wish to connect with you, or curious about you.

You can be the first person from your city or country to achieve something. You can be someone with more than 20 years of experience doing something. You can be someone who appeared in the news for something. You can be someone who spends a huge amount of money, or travel a huge distance to do a specific hobby, which few people would. As long as there is something about you which makes you a rarity, write it down in 1 or 2 sentences.

With these "exceptional descriptors", we can build a galaxy of exceptional personal profiles. Users can search for these profiles, and arrange to meet these people.

This platform is currently under construction.

🚀💥 COMPANY LAUNCH EVENT 🚀💥

Half a month ago, on the eve of Wednesday 24 September 2025, we had a groundbreaking event to launch our company Galaxy X. Based on a business model conceived by Loh Boon Liang, the mission of Galaxy X is to bring exceptional people to meet with our customers, people who are so exceptional that it is very hard to find them, on a planet with more than 8 billion humans.

We organised a talk by our special guest, Dr. Kaushik Sridhar, a remarkable individual who has survived 3 harrowing experiences - kidnapped by a feared military group in the Middle East, faced multiple armed robberies in Nigeria, and a near-plane crash in America. Dr Kaushik has also distinguished himself academically, being a PhD holder and an adjunct lecturer at University of Oxford, RMIT University, The University of Melbourne, Australian Institute of Business, and Kaplan Business School. Through his spirited story-telling, the audience was astonished at the vivid moments of his life. Most importantly, they had a chance to ask him questions and connect with him in the flesh, as opposed to just listening or reading his story passively on a screen. The magic of social connections in the flesh is the heart of our company's vision - it is what we hope to bring to all our clients.

Galaxy X is delighted to host this talk for him to share the depth of his personal insights on survival in the most difficult of life-and-death moments. This is the first time our company has done a paid event, and may we have many more breathtaking and memorable events to come, and many more incredible opportunities to learn and to connect with real people with real adventures and profound stories.

We are grateful to: Helene, Farook Golandaz, Ang Tiat Leong, Teo Chang Wee, Jocelyn, Burt Choo, Caleb Yang, Sophia Tan, Varun Kumar, Siu Zhuo Bin, Gao Xiao Qing, Patrick Tan Chong Teck, Kuan Yew Yong, Sharon Loh for joining us on this eventful day, to be the first customers of Galaxy X!

We would like to acknowledge Helen Loh and MITSpace.SG for providing their wonderful venue for our launch event, which is so conveniently located close to an MRT station in the heart of Singapore. We started planning the event in June 2025, but had problems with two earlier venue providers, and are very glad that this meeting space in Peninsula Plaza worked out for us in the end.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Follow us!

Follow Galaxy X - Social Media's page on Facebook to stay tuned for more upcoming deeply meaningful and exciting events!

Please note that, however, at the end of the day, Galaxy X is not aiming to be an event-planning company, or an "events company". Our real aim is to create a platform, a kind of "social media" and search engine, to make it easier for members of the public to meet exceptional people. Our focus is not on the events, but on developing a system that facilitates and encourages our users - "buyers" and "sellers" - to come together to create these events for themselves. We want to plant seeds - seeds of imagination - in our users, so that they will stretch their imagination, to search for all kinds of interesting people out there in the world who are worth meeting, and to use Galaxy X's network of users, to reach out to them and meet them.

Analogy: Uber/Grab are not focusing on cars, they are focusing on perfecting a system that enables clients (buyers) to connect to drivers (sellers).

On Galaxy X, the aim is not to create "content" in the traditional social media sense - users cannot upload pictures or videos, or post updates about themselves, or send messages 1-1 to other users. All that is required of users, is bids. Tell us who you want to meet, and your bid.

This platform is currently under construction. Meanwhile you can sign up as a user of our platform using this link (look for the "sign up" buttons):

Take the survey so we know what kind of exceptional people you want to meet!

The above link also shows you all our other social media links - Linkedin and Twitter/X.com, and our event channels on eventbrite and luma.com. Follow us on all these channels!

We reached 100 followers today! Thanks for everyone's support. We will be posting our first event soon!

EVOLUTION OF SOCIAL SIGNALS

As we know, ants use pheromones to send signals to other ants to come to a location for food or to fight intruders, etc.

Before the internet was invented, people (when out of range of vision or earshot) used letters and phones to send signals to other people to express interest to meet up 1-1.

When the internet came along, websites, emails, blogs... and chat platforms like ICQ and MSN appeared. Social signals could now travel online, increasing convenience. Then came social media. On social media, like facebook, there was the groundbreaking social signaling tool known as the "like" button. The "like" button was revolutionary because, instead of writing a message to someone to say: "I love that post you wrote", a like button was fast and easy to click.

My question is:
Why isn't there a button to press, to signal to someone that you want to meet the person?

Of course, it is possible to write a private message to express the desire to meet up. But shouldn't there be a FASTER and EASIER way to send such "social signals" to express desire to meet up?

Of course, such a button must not be abused... nobody wants to receive frivolous requests from random strangers to meet up, much less actually go ahead to meet the person, unless it is worth meeting the person. The question is, how do you make it worth it for the receiver of these social signals?

24/06/2025

Consider what the internet has always stood for all these years.

First, information.
Second, social connections.
Third, convenience.

To fulfil these needs, the most massive companies were born: Google, YouTube, OpenAI, Facebook, LinkedIn, Zoom, Amazon and the advent of internet banking, money transfer companies, payment companies (eg PayPal) and online trading platforms.

However, the landscape of businesses which exist is still evolving. There are still needs which remain unfulfilled because there are still companies which haven't been built yet to tap the untapped potential markets.

So, apart from Google, Facebook, Amazon, etc....

What else should be there, but is not there...?

"MEETING ADVERTISEMENTS" - A NEW TYPE OF ADS (which we are trying to invent)

Currently, a few common types of ads exist. Job ads, sales ads, and ads for donations, political ads, and event ads. Then there are personal ads - lost/found ads, ads for missing persons, or missing pets.

And there are big existing platforms for job ads, sales ads, event ads and donation ads.

But... Why isn't there such a thing as "meeting ads"?

Why isn't there a platform for people to post "meeting ads"?

Let's say you want to meet someone (whom you haven't met before) 1-1... and you don't want to go through the traditional process because it's too bothersome/slow. You just want to put money somewhere, on some platform, and state the conditions of the meeting - eg duration of meeting, purpose of meeting, language of the meeting, the venue, the date and time... and let the platform do the work of finding the other person for you, communicating with him/her, to make the person show up.

Galaxy X wants to be that platform, a place for people to post "meeting ads".

A job ad works like this:
You are offering to someone: hey, you, do this work for me and I will pay you (a certain sum of $$$).

A "meeting ad" works like this:
You are offering to someone: hey you, come here and meet me at this date and time, for ### minutes or hours, for (a specified) purpose, if you can do that, I will pay you (a certain sum of $$$).

I can think of many scenarios where a "meeting ad" would be useful.

Example 1:
-If you want to meet someone famous, who has so many messages to deal with on a daily basis that he/she is very unlikely to respond to you, if he/she doesn't know you.

Solution:
Post a "meeting ad" on Galaxy X: basically, a "signal" to the famous person which says: Hey, you, come and meet me at ###x for ### minutes/hours and I will pay you (a certain sum of $$$).

Example 2:
-If you are diagnosed with a certain rare medical condition and you want to know how it's like to live with that condition. You want to talk to caregivers of patients with that condition. But the condition is so rare that nobody in your country has it apart from you. Information in websites and books and from your doctor is not enough for you, because you have so many questions to ask. Where can you turn to?

Solution:
Post a "meeting ad" on Galaxy X: basically, a "shoutout" to the whole world, to ask for anyone who has that medical condition or anyone who is a caregiver to someone with that condition, to say: Hey, you, come and meet me at ###x for ### minutes/hours and I will pay you (a certain sum of $$$).

Basically Galaxy X is a social media, a marketplace, a search engine, and a "job" portal, all in one.

It's a place for you to "signal" to someone, or to the whole world, that you want to meet someone.

CHANGING OUR FACEBOOK PAGE TITLE

I want to change my FB page name from "Galaxy X" to "Galaxy X (Social Media)" because there are too many FB pages called "Galaxy X".

However I just found out (from ChatGPT) that I have to wait 60 days to change the name of this FB page.

# # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # #

(from ChatGPT)

Facebook now enforces stricter guidelines for Page name changes to maintain authenticity and prevent misuse. Notably, there's a 60-day waiting period between name changes. This means if you've recently changed your Page's name, you'll need to wait 60 days before making another change .
