founded Katong Satay in 1970. He worked hard, putting in as many as 16 hours a day, grilling rows of skewered meats atop red hot coals. The succulent meats – marinated with a secret recipe learnt from an Indonesian chef – burst with flavour in every bite. Michael’s satay drew crowds, including journalists, trade pundits and tourists. The brand has come a long way since. In 2000, William Goh, Michael’s son took over and shifted operations from the humble stall at Maxwell Road Hawker Centre to a modern new factory in Ubi Avenue II. While remaining loyal to his father’s age-old marinade recipe and signature peanut sauce, William added his eye for innovation and sound business acumen to the venture. Today, William heads not only Katong Satay but another much-loved brand, BBQ House. Our flagship brand, Katong Satay, imports the best cuts of chicken, pork and beef from the United States, Brazil and New Zealand. The combination of succulent satay served with a smooth, velvety peanut sauce has charmed generations of Singaporeans. Presently, Katong Satay supplies to 5-star hotels, restaurants and cafes across the island as well as overseas. BBQ House was established in 1989 as a one-stop shop for barbecue fans. Located in Bedok, BBQ House serves up a wide array of barbecued delights ranging from the much-loved satays, to barbecued chicken wings and fresh, crunchy seafood. A Halal-certified brand since 2005, BBQ House caters to a diverse clientele, including the Singapore Armed Forces. Its growing popularity led BBQ House to introduce delivery service as well as provide skilled barbecue chefs for special occasions. The brand also supplies to select hotels in China and Hong Kong.
