🌹 A Small Corridor Corner and a Rose-Growing Dream in Singapore ✨

Who says you need a large garden to grow beautiful roses?

In my small HDB corridor in Singapore, roses like Emily, Abraham Darby, and Pompadour continue to bloom despite limited space and seasonal sunlight. Their beauty reminds me that successful rose growing is not about having the perfect garden—it is about choosing the right rose, the right pot, and the right growing medium.

If you are dreaming of starting your own rose garden, SG Rose Corner is here to help. From selecting suitable rose varieties to providing ongoing care guidance, we are committed to helping fellow rose lovers succeed in Singapore’s unique climate.

If you ask me to recommend a rose that can handle the heat, Pope John Paul II would definitely be on my list.

Despite the current heat wave in Singapore, this rose continues to bloom with beautiful form, elegant petals, and remarkable resilience. It never fails to impress me.

If you haven’t grown this rose yet, perhaps it’s time to give it a spot in your garden. 🌹

Trust me—you may end up loving it as much as I do.

Sharing with you my beautiful ‘Kate’ rose — grown from a medium-sized own-root rose plant.
I brought this rose into Singapore in mid-March 2026 and patiently nursed it until this mid-May, when I was finally rewarded with its very first blooming flowers. 🌹

With the extreme hot weather in Singapore now, it is already not easy to maintain roses healthy, not to mention achieving blooms as beautiful as my Kate. Yet seeing these deep fuchsia-pink petals slowly unfold makes every effort worthwhile.

At SG Rose Corner, we have gone through many failures while learning how to grow own-root roses successfully in Singapore’s tropical climate, especially during the hottest season of the year. Burnt leaves, root stress, transplant shock, fungal issues during sudden rain… we have experienced them all.

But through every failure, we continue to learn, adjust, and try again.

There are many small tips and growing methods that SG Rose Corner has slowly discovered through real experience — from acclimating own-root roses, improving drainage and airflow, to building a healthier root system that can better handle Singapore’s heat and humidity.

One thing we never stop believing in is:

✨ “The way to succeed is simply to try one more time.” ✨

Growing roses in the tropics is never easy.
But perhaps that is why every beautiful bloom feels even more precious. ❤️🌹

“A Piece of White Paradise” from Japan

Ciero is a masterpiece rose bred by the renowned Japanese breeder Hiroshi Ogawa — a variety that easily captures the heart of rose lovers at first sight.

This beautiful rose can be grown as a climber or trained into a shrub form. Its blooms open in a soft blush white shade before gradually transforming into an elegant creamy white. The flowers feature a charming cupped shape with delicately swirled petals, carrying the graceful beauty of Japanese roses.

Each cluster produces around 5–7 blooms, with each flower measuring about 8cm across. When mature, the plant blooms heavily and creates a breathtaking display. The fragrance is moderate yet deeply captivating, with a soft and refined tea scent.

What makes Ciero so loved:
✨ Extremely floriferous
✨ Fast repeat blooming
✨ Blooms throughout the year
✨ Strong growth with good disease resistance
✨ Flexible canes that are easy to train as a climber or shape into a shrub

The mature plant reaches around 130–150cm in height, making it perfect for balconies, gardens, fences, or arches where it adds a soft and romantic touch.

If you are looking for a white rose that is elegant, healthy, and blooms tirelessly, Ciero is truly a wonderful addition to your garden.
