Taking photos outdoors wasn’t enough.

So I carried them inside and kept photographing them under the light.

Some roses become more beautiful the longer you look at them.

Every layer of petals reveals something new, and every angle tells a different story.

Eventually, I stopped searching for the right words.

Because some kinds of beauty…

are simply meant to be admired in silence.

“What is it about roses that makes me fall so deeply in love?”

Perhaps it isn’t their beauty alone.

Perhaps it’s the countless days of waiting, nurturing, hoping… and even the disappointments along the way. It is that entire journey that makes the moment a rose finally blooms so unforgettable.

🌹 Jean de la Fontaine — a rose whose beauty makes you lose track of time as you quietly admire it.

Eventually, I stopped trying to describe it.

Because some kinds of beauty are simply beyond words.

🆔: Kizuna - A Symbol of Enduring Bonds and Resilience.

One of Kizuna’s most enchanting qualities is its ever-changing color. Fresh blooms begin in warm apricot yellow, then slowly soften into glowing shades of peach and salmon pink before finishing with creamy outer petals. As each bloom matures, it creates a beautiful watercolor effect, making no two flowers exactly alike.

The blooms release a delightful fruity fragrance—sweet, fresh and inviting—adding another layer of enjoyment whether planted in the garden or grown in a container near your living space.

Kizuna is also a gardener’s delight. It flowers continuously throughout the seasons, producing generous flushes again and again with very little pause. Combined with its excellent disease resistance, glossy dark green foliage, and upright semi-climbing habit reaching around 1.2 m tall and 60 cm wide, it is both beautiful and dependable.

Whether grown as a specimen shrub, trained on an obelisk, or allowed to climb lightly along a support, Kizuna brings elegance, resilience, and meaning wherever it blooms.

My First Experience Growing Clematis in Singapore

This is the very first Clematis I have ever grown—and I chose to grow it here in Singapore.

When I first shared my idea of testing how Clematis would perform in Singapore’s hot and humid climate, many people discouraged me.

They said, “Clematis only blooms in cooler regions. Singapore feels like summer all year round, so it will never flower. You’ll probably get nothing but green leaves.”

I understood their concerns, but I still wanted to try. I wanted to see the result with my own eyes instead of simply accepting that it was impossible.

And now, here are the photos of the first Clematis I have ever grown in my life.

Watching it bloom was truly fascinating. Its petals opened slowly, layer by layer, as though the flower was patiently revealing its beauty. Even when the bloom began to fade, the petals did not fall all at once. They dropped gently—one by one, day by day.

The entire beautiful performance lasted almost two full weeks.

To me, that is amazing.

This Clematis reminded me that we should not be too quick to decide that something is impossible, especially when we have never tried it ourselves.

How about you? Have you ever dared to try something new and challenge your own fears?

Be brave enough to experiment, but also thoughtful enough to observe, learn, and make your own conclusions. Before making assumptions about something you are unsure of, perhaps give it a chance to surprise you.

Sometimes, the most beautiful results begin with a simple decision:

“Let me try.” 💜

A little note: I also experimented with propagating Clematis, and it turned out to be much easier than I expected—certainly easier than propagating roses!

Beverly vs. Pompadour 🌸

If you could choose only one, which would it be?

I’ve heard so many different opinions from fellow rose growers.

Some say Beverly has one of the strongest fragrances among pink roses. Others insist that Pompadour is just as unforgettable.

To me, they’re both exceptional roses with rich, captivating fragrances and both deserve a place in any pink rose collection. And yes… I’m a huge fan of pink roses. I think many rose lovers around the world feel the same. 💕

So, of course, I had to grow them side by side and find out the differences for myself.

Fragrance?

At least from my experience so far, Beverly has a slightly stronger scent than Pompadour. Its fragrance is wonderfully rich with a soft sweetness that reminds me of candy. Every time I lean in for a sniff, it’s hard not to smile.

As for heat tolerance, the test has only just begun.

My Beverly has only recently arrived, so I’ll need more time to help it establish well before I can fairly compare its performance in Singapore’s hot and humid climate. I’m especially curious to see whether it can perform as consistently as Pompadour, which has already impressed me.

Growing roses is never just about collecting beautiful flowers.

It’s about slowing down, observing, learning, and appreciating the little changes each day. In a world where social media moves faster than ever and it’s becoming harder to tell what’s real from what’s filtered, roses gently remind us to pause and reconnect with something genuine.

Growing roses with love.
Because sometimes, the smallest blooms bring the greatest peace. 🌹

People admire the flowers.
I remember the failures that made them bloom.

Every rose in my Singapore garden is living proof that success doesn’t require perfect weather—it requires patience, persistence, and the courage to try one more time.

🌹 The key to success is simply to try one more time.
