It all began in 2015, when Nel started as a freelance florist under the acclaimed event designer Gideon Hermosa while still pursuing his college deg
ree. After graduating in 2016, Nel became the Flower Shop Supervisor at Bloomwoods in EDSA-Shangri-La Hotel. His experience there deepened his understanding of the industry and sparked the idea to build his own events team. In 2017, he took the leap—motivated by the growing demand for stylish, personalized events—and began shaping what would become ExceptioNel Events. Officially launched on June 28, 2019, ExceptioNel Events brings together a talented team of florists and event coordinators under Nel’s visionary leadership. The company quickly earned a reputation for creating elegant, thoughtfully curated experiences that stir hearts and inspire memories. In November 8, 2020, Nel partnered with Darrell James, a multi-talented artist, entrepreneur, and the owner of ECMIX Media Productions—a company specializing in professional music production, digital content creation, and brand development. Darrell brought with him not only a strong creative vision, but also a wealth of experience in media, marketing, and live production. With Darrell on board, ExceptioNel Events evolved into a more dynamic brand, seamlessly blending event styling with music, live entertainment, and immersive media experiences. He currently leads the company’s Digital Imaging, Branding, and Media Marketing as the company's Brand & Marketing Director, helping bring each event’s story to life across multiple platforms and formats. Together, Nel and Darrell form a powerhouse partnership—where art meets emotion, and logistics meet imagination. Nel continues to lead as Event Director and Head Stylist, ensuring that every detail reflects the heart of our mission: to design emotions that last a lifetime.
