‎A sea of purple flooded the Lower Campus Oval during March 26, 2026. Each shade carrying a story, each step echoing strength.
‎
‎Higayong Pambayi 2026 was not just a celebration, it was a movement of voices rising, banners waving, and women standing unapologetically in their truth. The 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 opened the day with power and purpose, a parade of organizations united by one cause: to be seen, to be heard, and to be valued.
‎
‎From shared laughter over free ice cream to meaningful acts of care through distributed essentials, the event reminded everyone that empowerment also lives in compassion. Creativity took center stage in the 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭, where art became a bold declaration of women’s worth and influence.

‎But it was in the stories of the speakers where hearts were truly stirred.
‎
‎𝐃𝐫. 𝐄𝐚 𝐊𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞 𝐓𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧-𝐄𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞𝐭𝐚 illuminated the path of a woman in science, one built on courage, mentorship, and perseverance. Her journey was a testament that women belong in every field, every space, every frontier. And yet, she reminded everyone of a powerful truth: in striving for excellence, a woman must never lose her essence, her femininity, her voice, her freedom to express who she truly is.

‎𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐀𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐚 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐖. 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐝𝐚 brought the past into the present through the spirit of the Babaylan, women who once led, decided, and shaped communities. She emphasized that empowerment begins with representation, with role models who inspire others to rise. Women are not meant to be confined nor reduced to labels, they are leaders, visionaries, and pillars of society. To look back is to remember: women have always led, and they must continue to lead today, tomorrow, and beyond.

‎Through songs, dances, and shared energy, the celebration transformed into something deeper—a reclaiming of identity, power, and history.

‎This was more than an event.
‎It was a reminder.
‎It was a 𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.

As International Women’s Month almost comes to an end, as we celebrate strength and resilience through Higayong Pambayi, we are reminded that even the smallest hearts can fight the biggest battles. 💜

Marlyn “Diday” Anne Marte has been living with congenital heart disease for so long, carrying a battle far beyond her years. Now that she’s grown a little older, she finally has the chance to undergo the surgery she needs—but time is crucial. Her story is one of enduring strength, quiet courage, and hope that refuses to fade.

In this season of empowering women and uplifting lives, we humbly ask for your support for her treatment. Any amount you give becomes a step closer to her healing—a chance for her to grow, dream, and live fully.

Let our celebration be more than words. Let it be compassion in action. Together, we can be the strength behind her heart. 💜🩷

𝗠𝗴𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘆𝗲 𝘀𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 💜🎬

On March 25, a film showing titled Mga Babaye sa Salida was held at the IHS Math and Science Building, Room 8 AVR, as part of the observance of Women’s Month. The initiative gathered students and viewers in a shared space to engage with films that center on women’s narratives, focusing on identity, struggle, agency, and lived realities.

The screening highlighted cinema's capacity to move beyond entertainment and serve as a medium for awareness and reflection. Each film presented perspectives that are often underrepresented, allowing audiences to encounter experiences that challenge assumptions and deepen understanding.

In the broader context of Women’s Month, Mga Babaye sa Salida underscored the ongoing need to create platforms that give women’s voices space and significance. It emphasized the role of storytelling in shaping discourse, particularly in addressing social realities that require both recognition and response.

The event was organized and curated by Silakbo-Baybay Film Organization and Small Tree House, contributing to ongoing efforts to promote meaningful conversations through film.

‎As part of Higayong Pambayi 2026 in celebration of Women’s Month, the University Supreme Student Council (USSC) successfully wrapped up "Higayong Pambayi: Lakas at Alaga", March 25, 2026, at the Glass Room, VSU Baybay.
‎
‎The event highlighted key topics such as the Harassment Reporting Process in ASHO discussed by Ms. Marianne Ubay-Dela Peña, Director of the Gender and Development Office, Menstrual Health and Effective Ways to Cope with Dysmenorrhea presented by Dr. Michelle A. Canda from the Faculty of Nursing, and Practical Self-Defense for Everyday Safety facilitated by Mr. Ralph Julios Buen, Instructor from the Institute of Human Kinetics.

‎Centered on self-protection and body awareness, the event created a transformative environment where women could strengthen their confidence, deepen their awareness, and enhance their physical well-being. Through a Training of Trainers approach, student leaders from different faculty councils and organizations were equipped with practical knowledge and skills that they can share within their own communities.

‎From purposeful movement activities to empowering discussions, the experience stood as a powerful reminder of the strength that comes from unity and self-care. 💜💛
