Session 9: Keith Anderson, Managing Director of the Communications Speciaist (APCS), presented on the critical role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing the sector in the “Next 50”. He highlighted how AI integration is driving infrastructure investment, collaboration, and operational efficiency to unlock Papua New Guinea’s energy potential.
Anderson shared that APCS leverages AI-powered data monitoring stations to detect inconsistencies in records, ensuring clean, secure, and reliable data — a key factor for energy operations and compliance. He emphasized that AI tools complement human expertise to improve productivity and data integrity, positioning AI as a key enabler of PNG’s energy future.
In response to a question from DICT Secretary Steven Matainaho on the accuracy level of document reading, Anderson explained that APCS’s AI engine, refined over several months, now operates with three independent large language models (LLMs) verifying data accuracy. The system achieves 99.5% accuracy, processing up to 50,000 additional documents monthly without added labor, demonstrating AI’s efficiency and precision in managing large-scale data.
