🌿 OUR ENVIRONMENT, OUR BIODIVERSITY, OUR FUTURE 🌳

The Unitech Rainforest Habitat, together with five trainee students from the University of Goroka, recently conducted an Environmental Education Awareness Campaign across selected schools in Lae City, Morobe Province.

The outreach visited:

📍 Busu Secondary School

📍 Malahang Secondary School

📍 Talaka Primary School

📍 Lae Adventist Primary School

📍 Bumayong Secondary School

The program focused on helping students understand the importance of protecting our environment, biodiversity, and wildlife. Key topics included:

🌱 Environmental Protection & Sustainable Living

♻️ Waste Management, Recycling & Pollution Prevention

🌳 Forest & Wildlife Conservation

💧 Water Conservation & Ecosystem Protection

👧🏽👦🏽 The Role of Young People in Protecting the Environment

A special highlight of the program was the wildlife display conducted by the Unitech Rainforest Habitat team, giving students the opportunity to observe selected wildlife and connect classroom learning with real examples of Papua New Guinea's biodiversity.

The campaign demonstrated that environmental education, practical wildlife experiences and youth participation can work together to build greater understanding and responsibility towards nature.

A big thank you to the University of Goroka trainee students, participating schools, teachers, students, and the Unitech Rainforest Habitat team for contributing to this important conservation awareness initiative.

The Unitech Rainforest Habitat Welcomes Another Group of UOG Biology & Environmental Students for Industrial Training

Following the successful industrial training placement of University of Goroka (UOG) students at Rainforest Habitat last year, we are pleased to once again welcome five Biology and Environmental students from UOG for their practical industrial training.

The students will spend their placement at the Rainforest Habitat, based at the Papua New Guinea University of Technology (Unitech) in Lae, gaining valuable hands-on experience in biodiversity conservation, wildlife care, environmental management, research, and environmental education.

This continued partnership provides UOG students with an opportunity to connect classroom knowledge with practical field experience while working alongside the Rainforest Habitat team in a unique conservation and education setting.

We are proud to support the development of the next generation of biologists, environmental scientists, conservationists, and environmental leaders in Papua New Guinea.

We wish you a productive, enjoyable, and rewarding industrial training experience. We look forward to learning and working with you over the course of your placement.
