🌿 Fun Facts from The Rainforest Habitat 🌿

🦋 Birdwing Butterfly

Birdwing butterflies are the largest butterflies in the world, with some species reaching wingspans of up to 28 cm!

- They are named after their bird-like flight patterns.

- These butterflies are vital pollinators and play a key role in rainforest ecosystems.

Papua New Guinea is home to the famous Queen Alexandra’s Birdwing, the largest butterfly species on Earth.

🐊 Saltwater Crocodile

Known as the “salty”, they are the largest living reptiles, capable of growing over 6 meters long.

- They can live 70+ years in the wild.

- Saltwater crocodiles are incredible hunters, with one of the strongest bite forces in the animal kingdom.

- Despite their fearsome reputation, they are crucial in keeping aquatic ecosystems healthy by controlling prey populations.

Here at The Rainforest Habitat, we are home to Agro, our 25-year-old Saltwater Crocodile 🐊

Agro has grown with us for decades and has become one of our most iconic residents. With his powerful jaws and commanding presence, he reminds us of the ancient lineage of crocodiles that have survived for over 200 million years. Visitors love meeting Agro — a true ambassador of Papua New Guinea’s wild heritage.

As we raise our flag high and reflect on our journey, we are reminded of the richness of our natural environment and the importance of protecting it for generations to come. 🌿 Student Trainees Spotlight – Rainforest Habitat 🌿

Today, we proudly concluded the Industrial Training program for our student trainees from the University of Goroka – Samson Junior, Luther William, Monica James, Belinda Enn, and Zilpah Pascal. 🎓✨

Over the past weeks, they have contributed their energy, curiosity, and passion for Environmental Science, Biology, and Conservation, gaining hands-on experience in animal care, sustainability, and fieldwork at the Rainforest Habitat.

On behalf of the Rainforest Habitat Management, we extend our best wishes to each of them as they continue their academic journey and future careers in environmental leadership. 🌏💚
