Clown History: “First of May” is a traditional circus term for a novice clown or performer in their first season. It stems from the historical start of the traveling circus season on May 1st. It is also affectionately known as “All Clowns’ Birthday,” a day celebrating new performers too! So Happy Birthday to ALL my clown friends around the globe!
