2025 has been the best year yet not only for McLeod Bay Executive Homestay but also for our family 🖤

We welcomed a little boy into our family at the beginning of November, Rachyl & Regan’s first child and Mandy & Stu’s first grandson 👣

We’re sorry for being absent from our social media but we reassure you that the airbnb has continued operating and we’ve had some wonderful guests!

OCEAN BEACH

15 min drive from McLeod Bay Executive Homestay is the beautiful surf beach known as Ocean Beach which is at the end of the Whangarei Heads Peninsula, looking out at the Pacific Ocean 🌊

Ocean Beach is a local favourite for surfing, body-boarding or just relaxing, rumour has it dolphins are often seen offshore too 🐬

MOUNT MANAIA

A steady climb through regenerating native bush to the summit of Mount Manaia rewards you with breath-taking views of the dramatic entrance to Whangārei-Terenga-Paraoa (Whangārei Harbour) 🪵🌳

Mount Manaia is a 4km walk, it is a steady and steep climb with steps and is suitable for low to moderate fitness level

The entrance for the track is 1.8km drive from McLeod Bay Executive Homestay and the walk normally takes about an hour to hour & a half which is a great way to see so much of Northland and enjoy the view ⛰️

Introducing the Owners & Hosts 💃🏼

Mandy Edge and daughter Rachyl come from an award winning catering background of thirty-three years. Mandy created and ran A’Fare Catering which operated an event facility as well as out-catering to many Whangarei events and in 2011 won the Matariki Industry Awards Northland Caterer of the Year. She hasn’t lost her love of catering and a full catering service can be booked in advance

Mandy is also a keen athlete who competes in Worlds duathlons 🏃🏼‍♀️🚲🏃🏼‍♀️

Rachyl is a registered nurse, and grew up with A’Fare so is also familiar with the catering world. She is an ex-competitor in triathlons for New Zealand, but today, she says Crossfit does the job. As a lover of the beach, any excuse to come out to McLeod Bay works for her
