The second of our Classical in the Chapel series, ‘Midwinter Vespers’

Step into the stillness of winter with Midwinter Vespers, an intimate evening of luminous, contemplative music performed by a distinguished string quartet.

The programme weaves together the timeless beauty of Bach’s chorales, the evocative folk-inflected soundworld of the Danish String Quartet’s Last Leaf, the meditative intensity of Arvo Pärt’s Speilgel Im Spielgel , and the intricate elegance of Couperin’s Passacaille/Chaconne. Moody, atmospheric, and deeply reflective, this concert draws on ancient musical traditions to create a rich, immersive listening experience.

Featuring outstanding principal players — Amy Boucher and Jessica Oddie (violins), and Ian Greenberg (cello), with Beatrix Francis (viola) — this promises to be a truly special performance in the unique acoustic of Erskine Chapel. Ticket link in our bio.
