Inspired by the intricate beauty of Victorian crafts, led to the establishment of a successful small business, making and creating dried arrangements. By 1989, two prominent floristry wholesalers, Fleur Creations (Dried Flowers) and Country Keepsakes (Potpourri, Drie
d Arrangements and More), recognised this growth and invited me to serve as their Northern Territory Sales Consultant. As my portfolio expanded, my enthusiasm for floristry was reignited, further motivating me to pursue creative opportunities in this vibrant field. In December 2019, we began our journey with Scents of Clevedon, located on the picturesque hills of Clevedon. This venture was established around our beautiful 1.5-acre Rose Garden, which was vibrant with excitement and colour. We purchased the property over four years prior, initially viewing a garden that was overgrown and in need of tender loving care. We dedicated ourselves to repairing and restoring it to its former glory. I nurtured 75 rose bushes of various varieties and colours back to health and added another 15. Fuelled by my love for flowers and nature, we decided it was time to share our excitement and passion for blooms that evoke the five senses with their sensational feelings and aromas. The roses I dried and turned to potpourri, along with many other flowers and herbs in my garden. My love of flowers came from my Grandmother, who was passionate about Gladioli. I am passionate about all flowers; however, three that entice me each season are: Roses, of course, Dahilas for their strength and colour and Cameillas as they bring colour into gloomy winter days. I have dried and turned all of these into either potpourri or dried arrangements. In 2021, after both of us experienced the loss of a parent, we decided to relocate and change the business name to "Rose Scents". This time, we began with a blank canvas based on the hills of Waiuku. I am now surrounded by all the flowers I love so much, and I create arrangements and sell them at two local shops as well as from my home cutting garden. My gardens have always been a source of creativity, producing and sharing fresh and dried arrangements with friends and family. Creating the casket flowers for my mother was a beautiful way for me to express my love as her daughter. Our garden is very fortunate as it receives the best of the best. My chickens and sheep provide me with the best fertiliser, which my plants thrive on. Our dried flowers are grown with care in our very own garden and crafted into beautiful arrangements and fragrances that will enchant your senses.
