In the same week we kicked off planning for Upper Hutt Food Week 2027 we were awarded the Rising Star award at the Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards for Upper Hutt!

The Rising Star award recognises and encourages emerging grass roots groups in the community.

Upper Hutt Food Week was born from our dedicated Chief Executive Alice Midgley wanting to bring the community together to share our knowledge, resources and grow sustainability in Upper Hutt.
We celebrate Alice’s tireless efforts with this award, along with the array of community partners and volunteers that we couldn’t do it without.

Congratulations to all our community friends who were also nominees and award winners. Thanks to Upper Hutt City Council and Wellington Airport for recognising our community groups.

We’re excited for where we can take Upper Hutt Food Week in 2027 and beyond!

🌻 Growing:Gardening & seasonal harvesting.
🛠️ Resilience:Any skills that help a whānau stay sustainable.

The deal is simple: We have the space, you have the knowledge. Let’s make sure the next generation knows how to look after themselves.
