Tuesday I was officially back from running two conventions back to back. I list both as a success and am happy to be home. All my staff seemed to have a great time for most of them, this is time to unwind.
Little advertised work is that every convention has a post event list of tasks. Typical Photo Ops and Booth conventions always have a few people having trouble finding their photos. The current process is for people to fill out a google form so we can be aware and hunt them down.
But... Before I can do that (or delegate) I need to first make sure each of our photo dump computers have finished any queued work. This is because the last hour of large events is every computer receiving nonstop photo dumps from last minute photographers. Then I need to consolidate all the photos taken into an organized location. This alone can take over a day and a lot of careful moving of files.
Finally, I need to review each photo QR code folder for oddities. It's a quick view, but it still takes time. Basically looking for codes that the system missed due to poor light or bad focus. It's an unfortunate artifact of the system I built.
For the last event, out of the approximate 390 codes we gave out, only 14 are missing and need to be located, a paultry 3.5% overall. Feels like a win.
