And just like that Moss & Co turns SEVEN today!!

🌸 2026 so far …….

🍃Valentine’s Day will be remembered for the devastating flooding in our area - though also Mum & Dad’s 50th Wedding Anniversary

🍃Work has begun on a greenhouse/garden bar in the flower patch (watch this space!)

🍃Marley is going to be a big sister!!

🍃Pretty Whimsical dried flowers as the first of my boys got married at the beginning of April

🍃More structural flowers are making an appearance, (with some bedazzling!) …..anthuriums, calla lilies, amaranthus, orchids

🍃And finally, last week we started stocking our dried florals at the Hamilton Airport (excited to be approached by them!)

Thank you so much for following along on this journey with me! And to the lovely people who have worked alongside me over the years, each and every one of you have contributed to what Moss & Co is today 🩷

🌸2025 - a year of two halves 🌸

🍃A stunning mix of weddings in this year - and contrasting venues to match. We had Rosenvale in Te Awamutu, The Red Barn in Karapiro, St Mary’s Catholic Church Otorohanga and the beautiful Waihi Beach.

🍃We had create gorgeous cookies for Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day

🍃In March our studio (along with our architect neighbours) was broken into. I was the first on the scene the following morning, and honestly it affected me for a long while afterwards. For weeks afterwards, we would still be discovering things that had gone missing. It broke my heart xx

🍃 Roll on into the second half of 2025, and I found my sparkle again - starting with the arrival of my second granddaughter, Adelyn at the end of July

🍃In October, Jess (my superstar apprentice) and I attended the Business Awards dinner. To this day we are so grateful and humbled to have won the People’s Choice Retail Award

🍃2025 was the year I found the hardest to write about. Looking back now, it was obvious I had been running on empty for a while.

I’m so thankful I have a wonderful support team xx

🌸2024 - the year of pushing creative boundaries 🌸

🍃We became stockists of , and started the exciting journey of supplying (Te Awamutu) with dried floral bouquets

🍃 A new flower chiller joined the studio to replace our original one(.florist 😘 - thank you for letting me care for her!)

🍃I challenged myself more by trying new design styles, and colour combos (and even made an appearance at Artbeat Otorohanga!)

🍃We were fortunate to design for more out of area events (including a poetry evening at Waikato University)

🍃Isa’s Orchard kept expanding (cute photo of Marley amongst the daisies by ).

🍃Wedding season gave us such a mix of bold blooms & colours, … and even a deer antler wedding bouquet

🍃A sea of Mothers Day orders …. I remember getting home late on the Saturday night and seeing the amazing Aurora Australis that made our skies red that year

🍃I’ll remember 2024 as a year I grew in my floristry skills …… no matter how long you have been in a career there is always room for learning xx

🍃 Moss & Co’s countdown to turning Seven 🍃

🌸 2023 - the year of connection and community 🌸

🍃Marley & I became cover gals for the King Country Farming newspaper supplement (🤣), sharing the story behind , floristry and flower farming.

🍃We were involved in local craft and Christmas markets for the first time, and taught an evening flower class (dried floral mirrors)

🍃Our branding took a bigger step with customised posy bags and tissue paper from

🍃The flower farm was used for a photo shoot for the first time (thanks .taylor.photographer !), and we were excited to be invited to be a part of a collab with

🍃We gave the silk flower arrangements a refresh for St Brides Anglican Church

🍃For the second time in my career, I designed flowers for Dame Malvina Major 🌸

🍃Our fairies made their appearance for the first time in the studio - so beautifully handmade for us by local lady, Mary Hawley

🍃2023 also was the year I lost two beautiful flower souls. Anna Clark was there from the very first day I started work experience at The Flower Shoppe, Otorohanga as a rather shy 18 year old. We kept in touch all through the years of my floristry career. I was always in awe of the fact she had been trained at the prestigious Constance Spry Flower School in England.
And then there was Chrissie, Flower Fairy #1 🩷 I worked at The Flower Fairy in Te Kuiti from 2011 when Chrissie had her first little shop on the main street. She had that rare vibrance about her, I miss her oh-so-much xx

🍃Moss & Co’s Countdown to turning SEVEN 🍃

🌸2022 - the year of the BIG! Big weddings, big floral installations ….. and also big feelings. We said goodbyes and hellos 🌸

🍃We had a huge wedding season - designing for eleven couples in a space of just 10 weeks. So many colours, textures, mixes of fresh and dried florals, whimsical styles, classic styles and meadow vibes. Archways (which ALWAYS make me nervous!) had flowers attached to them via tippy toes, ladder or front end loader. We travelled the furthest we’ve ever been for an event set up, Old Forest School Te Puke.

🍃Isa’s Orchard, my flower farm, gained significant traction with the first raised flower beds taking shape (my partner is such a handy guy!). Crops of celosia, cornflowers and poppies were planted. The dahlia obsession took hold too 🤣

🍃Dried florals supersized with bigger wreath shapes and statement room/work pieces.

🍃Some of the largest funerals we’ve had the honour of being a part of.happened in 2022. A sea of floral tributes. Big emotions.

🍃And as 2022 was in its last month, I joined the Grandparents Club (it’s a mighty fine club I might add!) My first granddaughter, Marley, arrived and time stood still for a wee while xx

🍃Moss & Co’s Countdown to turning SEVEN🍃

🌸2021 - the year of ‘Thinking outside the square’🌸

🍃We started supplying with our seasonal bloom bunches
🍃Preserved roses became popular with us in the studio - from using them in little ceramic pot arrangements, to wall wreaths (and in hanging glass terrariums with pieces of rose quartz).
🍃The first year our dried flower Christmas baubles made an appearance 😍 And they haven’t left!
🍃We created the ‘Kiwiana’ bouquet for our website, complete with all NZ grown flowers/foliage, buzzy bee, paua, Harakeke flowers, Lolly mix from Michael’s Milk bar, baling twine and brown paper (a nod to Haddads).
🍃Beautiful stock from and Sam’s Happy Waxident candles joined our studio
🍃Lockdown Part 2 happened, and I’m pretty sure my pets couldn’t wait for me to go back to work (Gypsy the foxy modelling a bespoke floral dog collar, Shadow the Guinea pig with her floral cloak/korowai and Stellar with her feline flower wristlet😅)
🍃We moved our workroom from front of house, to middle of house (more room needed… plus I can hide more of the creative mess now!). Window added x
🍃The very first idea of started forming

🍃For me, 2021 was a year of working out which way to grow (no pun intended!). I’ve always been able to see the possibilities in everything, though I’ve learnt that it’s a matter of narrowing it down to what best fits your core passion xx

🍃Moss & Co’s Countdown to turning SEVEN🍃

🌸2020 (the year of what the heck!)🌸

🍃We started stocking , , , , floragrow seed kits and the most beautiful prints by
🍃Our books were filled with Summer weddings

AND THEN COVID ARRIVED….

🍃Lockdown #1 saw my house transform into a plant jungle as all the shop babies nestled in, what flowers I could rescue I brought home to dry. Mother’s Day saw us trading again (at Level 3).
🍃A new ‘normal’ was adjusted to - with our first soul session partnership with .taylor.photographer and out at Kawhia
🍃Another ‘first’ saw us providing dried floral bunches for ‘A Little Bit Different’ store in Otorohanga.
🍃2020 left me feeling grateful for the wonderfully supportive community I am a part of xx

🍃Moss & Co’s Countdown to turning SEVEN 🍃

Time flies when you’re having fun - so I thought it would be cool to look back on some of the adventures my flower baby and I have had coming up to our 7th Birthday (1st June).

Enjoy! - Iona xx

🌸Where it started - 2019🌸

🍃 31 Maniapoto Street, Otorohanga (our home away from home to this day!)… my amazing partner, family and friends transformed the previous lawyers office into a flower studio. Walls were knocked out, doors repurposed into work benches and we broke out the mossy green paint (and found a space for the chocolate fish jar).
🍃I wrote my first novel (well actually it was the Business Plan and a detailed vision I had for Moss & Co 😅)
🍃Moss & Co became stockists of Waitomo Soaps, gift cards, seed bombs, candles, raw crystals (as well as our beautiful flowers, foliage and plants)
🍃 We joined .nz , and the Petals Network
🍃Gypsy the foxy pup joined the family (you might remember her being in the shop with me when she was little)
🍃 Fifi the flower pixie emerged at Christmas for the first time (our Elf on the Shelf!)
🍃Sooooo many dried flower wreaths were made, then there were weddings designed, funeral flowers created and we held our first Floral Workshop
🍃I ended 2019 still pinching myself that I was a business owner - that Moss & Co Floral Design was really all mine! I’d (somehow 🤣) juggled opening a florist shop, while solo Mum-ed four boys (and a puppy!)

Life was full, flowery and more than a lil crazy!

🧡FLASHBACK to the 2000s - Wedding Style 🧡

Every time I look at this photo I’m amazed (and in wonderment) at how the heck I got those ‘Mango’ calla lilies to sit so perfectly in shape 🤣

This is a wired teardrop bridal bouquet (in a holder), and I remember spending HOURS at a time in my studio creating this look for my brides. Meticulously wiring, taping, placing and securing stems - double and triple checking that the shape was even from all angles.

And now calla lilies are making a comeback… 😅
