🌟 Term 1 Recap 🌟

As we wrap up Term 1, it’s time to celebrate the incredible achievements and milestones of our club this term!

🥋 Congratulations to Our Representatives
A huge shoutout to Sensei Sari and Senpai Rika for being selected to represent New Zealand at the Oceania Cup in June, held in New Caledonia! This marks a historic moment for our club as our first representatives at this prestigious level.

🏅 Grading Success
We’re thrilled to share that 10 students successfully graded this term: Ian, Alysha, Jasper, Isabel, Victoria, Aaron, P**i, Zoe, Atarangi, and Constance. Special congratulations to Alysha, Isabel, Aaron, Zoe, Atarangi, and Constance for achieving double grading—a remarkable accomplishment!

👊 Training Highlights
This term, we focused on refining stances, and the progress has been outstanding. Your hard work and commitment are evident, and both Sensei Sari and I are so proud of everyone’s efforts.

📆 Exciting Opportunities Ahead
We have been invited by Auckland Wadokai for Sensei Takamasa Arakawa's training on Monday, 12th May, in Hamilton. This is an awesome opportunity. We hope to see many of you there!

🎯 Looking Ahead to Term 2
Term 2 starts the week of 28 April, and we’re ready to build on the momentum from this term. With more gradings, tournaments, and special events lined up, there’s so much to look forward to.

We kicked off the season strong on Sunday with an impressive haul—1 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals!

Huge congratulations to:
🥇 Sensei Sari – Gold in kata & 🥉 Bronze in kata
🥈 Senpai Rika – Silver in kata
🥉 Zoe – Bronze in kumite

A special shoutout to Senpai Yuri, who impressively defeated the eventual gold medalist but missed out on a podium spot due to the round-based scoring system. Tobias also put up a great fight in a tough division of 19 competitors.

These were challenging matchups, and while some calls didn’t go our way, we’re taking this as fuel to refine our approach and come back even stronger next time. Onward and upward!

🎉Celebrating Our Journey Together🎉

As we wrap up the year, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the incredible progress our young karatekas have made as part of the club. Their dedication, growth, and enthusiasm have been inspiring to witness throughout the year, both in training and in competition.

Our recent club tournament was a shining example of how far everyone has come. The kids truly gave it their all, showcasing their skills with focus and determination. It’s always a thrill to see how tournaments bring out the best in them, transforming their hard work in class into standout performances on the mat.

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to all the parents, helpers, and volunteers who supported the event. Special thanks to:
✨ Eva, Senpai Steven, Senpai Levi, and Senpai Ryan for helping with setup.
✨ Our dedicated table staff: Eva, Kathy, Neisha, and Kiriko.
✨ Our hard-working Senpai referees: Grace, Chloe, Rhy, Nila, Shun, Yuri, Levi, Ryan, Hayley, Steven, and Jonathan, as well as Sensei Sari.

Your efforts ensured the tournament’s success, and we’re incredibly grateful for your time and dedication.

🥷💥Ninja Valley Adventure 🥷💥

What an amazing time at the Ninja Valley! We had a fantastic turnout with so many kids joining in the fun. A special highlight was when the Senpais tried to knock Sensei Jessie off the Battle Bridge—talk about some fierce competition! And let’s not forget the rock climbing challenge, which kept everyone on their toes.

Some of the kids had a blast running around the playground, while others couldn’t get enough of bouncing on the trampoline. It was a day full of laughs, teamwork, and plenty of friendly rivalry. Looking forward to more adventures like this! 🥷💥

We are absolutely thrilled with how the day turned out with 90 competitors and couldn't have done it without the support of our amazing community. A huge thank you to our dedicated coaches, talented players, and incredible volunteers who ensured the event ran smoothly. 🙏

The enthusiasm and sportsmanship displayed by all participants made the event truly special. From impressive kata performances to intense kumite matches, every moment showcased the dedication and passion within our karate community. 🥋💪

We captured amazing highlights throughout the day, which we will be sharing soon. These will serve as wonderful mementos and inspiration for future tournaments.

We're excited to announce that our club is hosting a movie fundraiser to support their trip to Japan for the 2025 Wadokai World Championship! 🎉🥋

Join us for a fun evening watching "Despicable Me 4" on 25th June at 6:00 PM at Events Cinemas Chartwell. Tickets are just $27 each and include popcorn. It's a great way to enjoy a family-friendly movie while supporting our young athletes as they represent New Zealand on the world stage.
