Stay calm it's a flashback!

Ranunculus omg the mania it's almost as crazy as dahlia mania ๐Ÿ˜…

Love or loathe to grow these (and us growers, believe me, are probably a bit of both) you see absolutely rewarded when they flower.

Beautiful sheets of pillowy heaven-ness each flower is crazy-beautiful you will be staring at them for hours. Good thing they last for ages!

Im growing more of these this season so watch this space as to how it goes, powdery mildew is public enemy No 1 so let's hope I can keep that under control.

Are you growing them and are you team love, hate (or a bit of both!)

Day 1 of sharing instead of hoarding all of my flower images on my phone. ๐Ÿ“ธ Jan 2026.

I have a LOT. Like tens of thousands and I keep getting emails saying my emails will stop in about a week. So I delete some then I take some more and it's a little merry go round type of game that I play ๐Ÿซ

Anyway look! Pink, orange and pops of white and yellow I mean could it get more joyous?

Hello! Thought I'd pop on to say hi and thank you for following along ๐Ÿ‘‹ I'm Alison, trained florist and cut-flower grower based in Paraparaumu Beach โ›ฑ๏ธ

It's almost winter boo! This means that I'm closed BUT I am taking on custom orders so if you need a bouquet or a Joy Jar please msg me. I have the most stunning proteas happily blooming away and I have some dried flowers available too.

So what AM I doing now? Well, everything that needs to happen in order for me to have flowers mid-August all the way through to April.

๐ŸŒฑ Sowing, potting on, planting, prepping, flipping beds (not that kind!) And basically flipping the switch from summer to spring flowers. It is hours and hours of planning, prepping and back breaking graft.

There's also heaps of admin, end of yr financials, website design, product design and generally the behind the scenes businessy stuff.

Right now I'm planting out anemone, dianthus, straws and poppies, hundreds and hundreds of seedlings, relocating plants and tucking up dahlias for their hibernation. It really never stops.

I always feel a bit meh when the season ends as I know that the demand never stops but if I dont slow down then I just won't be able to carry on. Once the flower season starts it is all go all the way through.

So thank you! I really do appreciate you all, every like comment and message is awesome.

WORKSHOPS - I have dates and I will be releasing them very soon โฐ๏ธ

DAHLIA SEEDS - Also being released soon I'm just waiting for some envelopes to arrive ๐Ÿ˜…

How is your garden looking now??

Happy Mothers Day to all the mums and motherly figures in NZ and beyond โค๏ธ

After a crazy day delivering to a lot of very happy ladies all over Kฤpiti (wow that wind made it rather challenging! ๐Ÿ˜…) im taking a bit of time to rest and enjoy being spoilt by my boys.

Thank you SO much for your unwavering and continued support for our little flower biz, we would not be able to do this without you.

Enjoy this beautiful autumnal sunshine!

Ps this pic is of a custom bouquet I made for a local mum, if you would like a custom piece for your home please message me x

Confused about what to do with your dahlias now the season has finished? ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ

To lift or not to lift that is the question...

๐ŸŒž Here in my garden on the sunny Kฤpiti Coast we have VERY sandy, soil which albeit it terrible for maintaining nutrients, it means it is very free draining.

Therefore I leave my tubers in the ground, ill lift and divide after 2-3 seasons.

๐ŸŒงIf your ground gets very wet and boggy and/or you get heavy frosts, you may want to lift them every year.

Here's what to do
Allow the plant to die down for as long as you can (this is the not-so-pretty part)
Leaving them to die down can beneficial for the tubers
โœ‚๏ธYou can cut down the stems if you hate the look of them, leaving some stems above the soil and let them them brown (if you have to lift them before this happens don't worry)

โฐ๏ธWhen ready to lift:
Using a fork loosen the soil around the plant - not too close, you don't want to puncture your tubers!
Gently lift the clump from the soil
๐Ÿ’งTurn upside down to drain any
water in the stems
Store tubers, soil and all in a box or crate somewhere dry ie a garage or shed
โ„๏ธDon't seal in plastic! If you're worried about them freezing, wrap a blanket or similar around the box
๐Ÿ‘€Check on them periodically throughout winter
๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸŒพStore until Aug/Sept when you can either split them to duplicate your plants and replant in October.
๐Ÿ’คYou can wake up your tubers in spring to take cuttings or get a head start on the season.

๐Ÿค”I hope this helps, are you lifting or leaving your tubers this year?

Any questions please ask below...๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ

Looking back at this season ๐Ÿ˜

It's easy to forget just how many arrangements I've created so I thought I'd share some with you.

This really is the tip of the iceberg you wouldn't believe HOW many images of flowers I have ๐Ÿคฏ

It makes me so excited to do this all over again in Spring though, it truly is such a beautiful season

Hard question - which one is your fave?!
I love No4. Tag someone in who you would send your favorite to ๐Ÿ’“

As I am starting to clear the picking beds of summer annuals, I'm also picking the last stems for drying, collecting seed pods and having a massive tidy up.

These are strawflowers, a staple here and it's not hard to see why, they are so bright and cheerful and retain their vibrancy for years after drying.

These beauts will be part of the dried flower arrangements I'm making for Mothers Day and throughout winter

I've got many more plants in the greenhouse (and a lot that have self sown!) And to think, I almost didn't grow them this season ๐Ÿ˜ณ

If you'd like to learn more about these- and many more - cut flower varieties I will be running a series of workshops in spring so keep an eye out for dates and come join one!
