Turns out Dr Seuss knew a thing or two about love.

Here's hoping your person still gives you butterflies... and maybe lets you have the duvet too.

Don’t forget your marriage licence

You need to apply at least 3 working days before your wedding

But don’t leave it to the last minute — one less thing to stress about in that final week.

Last night was a double celebration as we celebrated Cherryl's 50th birthday and her marriage to Wally.

It was such a fun ceremony, with plenty of loud cheers, applause and laughter. I love it when guests get involved and aren't afraid to show just how happy they are for the couple.

Congratulations, Wally and Cherryl! Thank you for trusting me to be part of such a special evening.

First chat with me = low key

No pressure, no formal interview vibes.
Just a chance to:
• Get to know each other
• Talk through your plans
• Make sure it feels like the right fit

Do you need a fully personalised ceremony?
Not always.
Some couples want all the detail and storytelling
Some just want something short, relaxed, and easy
Both are completely fine — it’s about what feels right for you.

Ceremony timing matters more than you think

Think about:
• Sun position (photos!)
• Guest comfort
• Flow into your reception

From 18 June, the fee for a New Zealand registry ceremony is increasing from $90 to $175.

You'll still need a marriage licence as well, which is increasing from $150 to $158.

It's worth knowing that I offer simple ceremonies for only a little more than the cost of a registry ceremony, giving you the freedom to choose your own location, pick a date and time that suits you, and enjoy a ceremony that's simple, relaxed, and all about the two of you.

If you've been thinking about making it official, feel free to get in touch for a chat.

Plugged or unplugged ceremony?

An “unplugged” wedding means guests put their phones away during the ceremony and stay present in the moment.

Some couples love it because:

everyone is actually watching
professional photos look cleaner
no iPads sticking into the aisle

Other couples are completely happy for guests to snap away.

There’s no right answer — it’s just about the vibe you want for your day.

Honestly, most guests appreciate being told either way.

Do you need a rehearsal?

Not always.

If your ceremony is simple, you’ll be fine without one.
If there are lots of moving parts (big bridal party, multiple roles), it definitely can help.
