Kapiti Big Fish Kapiti Big Fish is a surfcasting competition located at Otaki Beach, Kapiti Coast. Prizes for heaviest snapper and kahawai. Adults & junior sections.

Entry forms and competition details are now available on Otaki Boating Club website. Kapiti Big Fish is a family orientated surfcasting event being hosted by Otaki Boating Club with support from our awesome sponsors.

Shout out to all our amazingly awesome competitors who took part in Kapiti Big Fish 2026.

Despite the weather conditions leading up to the event (and immediately after) you all came out in support and gave it your all.

Congratulations to Aaron Tautua for taking out 1st and 2nd place and Harold Laguador taking 3rd place - catching the only 3 kahawai that showed up to the party. 🥇🥈🥉

To everyone that got into the spirit of our fancy dress up, thumbs up.......you provided many laughs and really picked up the vibe 😎🤩

Despite the dismal fishing and trying conditions with w**d and debris in the water, we hope you all had a great day and got home safely.
