We’re looking for a Kitchen Hand to join our team at Church Road. We are wanting someone to assist with day-to-day kitchen duties in a fun and fast-paced environment.

This casual role offers around 20 hours per week, with the potential to transition into a full-time Chef position come summer for the right candidate.

With wedding season in full swing, and a calendar full of exciting upcoming events, we are looking for a full-time Event Planner to be responsible for coordinating and executing both off-site and on-site events led by Ortons.

This fast-paced, fun and varied role will require you to take charge of logistics and operations, provide guidance and serve as a main point of contact for Ortons events – working closely with clients, vendors and internal teams to deliver exceptional experiences for everyone involved.

This is a full-time role (Tuesday-Saturday) based primarily at The Old Church.

Our first summer gig of 2025!

This summer, Ortons Events is proud to bring you a truly iconic afternoon, filled with classic, jazzy tunes from Kiwi music legends Peter Urlich (of Th’ Dudes, Nice’n'Urlich and The Swingin’ Sextet – you know him, you love him) and Synthony’s saxophone maestro, Lewis McCallum.

With opening music by Little B, the legendary Art Deco Festival happening just down the road, and the people of Hawke’s Bay in full summer swing, it’s going to be an event for the ages. So, grab your picnic rug, your kids (if you want to) and your jazziest vibes, and come join us on the Church Road lawn for your fill of delicious Ortons food, award-winning Church Road wines and a couple of Kiwi music icons.

What: A jazzy afternoon with Peter Urlich and Lewis McCallum
