Last Friday, I had the pleasure of bringing another Real Women Raw Stories event to life here in Christchurch.

Months of planning, organising and coordinating all came together for an evening of honest conversations, powerful stories and genuine connection.

A huge thank you to our wonderful speakers — Sarah Scott Webb, Simonne Butler, Lara Briden, Keela Atkinson-Cranwell and Tamara Kirwan — for sharing their experiences so openly, and to our MC Debbie Hawker for guiding us through the evening.

And of course, thank you to everyone who came along, supported the event and helped make it happen.

Events like this remind me why I love what I do. There's something incredibly rewarding about taking an idea, bringing all the pieces together and seeing people connect through the experience.

It's about so much more than organising an event — it's about creating something meaningful.

One of the things I love most about what I do is that no two weddings or events are ever the same.

Different people, different ideas, different spaces and always something new to bring together.

Whether I'm planning a wedding, coordinating a corporate event or transforming a venue ready for a celebration, it's those little details behind the scenes that make all the difference.

And while everyone else is enjoying the occasion, I'm usually somewhere in the background making sure everything is running just as it should!

After all these years, I still get such a buzz from seeing everything come together and knowing I've helped create something special.

It's what I do, and I genuinely love it.

Over the weekend, I took the Canterbury Bride team away to Manawa Retreat for some much-needed team time.

It was a chance to step away from the day-to-day, reconnect, get to know each other better and spend some time planning for the year ahead.

It was also a great reminder of the value of getting your team out of the office and into a different environment.

Whether it’s a team retreat, strategy day, staff celebration or planning day — sometimes a change of scenery is exactly what your team needs.

And while it might look effortless, someone still needs to organise it all!

That’s where I can help. I take care of the planning, logistics and details so you can focus on your team.

So… what do I actually do? 🤔

I’m a wedding and event planner, but my job is about so much more than simply putting an event on a calendar.

For weddings, I take your ideas, your vision and sometimes your very long list of things you’re worried about and turn them into a plan that actually works.

For events, whether it’s a corporate function, fundraiser, celebration or something completely unique, I do much the same -taking an idea and turning it into an event that runs smoothly from start to finish.

I coordinate suppliers, manage timelines, organise setup, style spaces, keep everyone on track, solve the little problems that pop up and make sure all those important details come together.

And sometimes it’s the things you don’t see that make the biggest difference.

A last-minute supplier phone call.
Moving a table.
Adding flowers to a cake.
Restocking the bathrooms.
Making sure the right people are in the right place at the right time.
Or simply being the person everyone knows they can come to.

Basically, I’ve got your back.

Whether you’re planning your wedding or organising an event for 20, 200 or more people, my job is to take the pressure off, keep everything moving and make sure you can actually enjoy the occasion.

That’s what I do - and I genuinely love it.
