First competition of the year done and dusted
Kumeu never disappoints, it’s always an awesome show and a great place to kick the year off.
We took a punt for this one and lent our main trailer setup out to Awesome Ugly BBQ from Queensland, Brad & Renee & Maddie were great neighbours for the weekend, they had a great time.
Pete ran solo on our big catering trailer pit. Certainly quite a test on the processes and had to keep moving all day, there was very little down time, but all 5 proteins were handed in on time.
Let’s just say the results didn’t go our way, our best was 5th place in Lamb, and ended up 20th overall. We ran a tasty but simple flavour profile across the board, which against a high calibre field just didn’t quite hit the mark, which can happen on any given day in competition, that’s just the way it goes.
Massive well done to The Chosen Que for the GC and Rum & Que for the RGC Placing. Also a huge shoutout to The Cook Cartel for taking out the national championship for last year
We’ll wind things right up and off the clock for meatstock in a few weeks time.
