Yesterday we had the pleasure of sharing our BBQ knowledge with the Waikato NPC Rugby team in a four hour class at FMG Waikato Stadium. The boys had heaps of questions, the banter was flowing, & some of them showed their creative flair & competitive nature getting hands on in our steak session.
We put on a couple of wagyu briskets & pork collars shortly before they arrived, then as the time ticked away we showed them the process for succulent Swift pork ribs, rotisserie lamb leg, tasty shotgun shells, reversed seared Black Origin wagyu tomahawks, direct seared scotch fillet steaks, chicken over charcoal & the ever popular finisher, chocolate brownies!! We showcased drum, kettle & table top grilling with the Bronco Pro, Blackjack & Rambler from our friends at Oklahoma Joe NZ, using the premium lump charcoal we know & love from Heatbeads NZ.
We were gifted a beautiful koha after lunch, a signed team jersey, which has truly blown us away. We’re big rugby fans, this was particularly special for Pete being Waikato born, this is his team; we’re getting that framed & hanging it above our BBQ trophies!
