Made it through! A week full of art variations completed with commissioned live performance in the former newspaper printing house of Sør-Varanger Avis. Indeed satisfied

1999Q will present commissioned audiovisual live performance 'Papercut'. His work is around forced migration presented through visualisation and sonification of interactions with papers and found objects

Kirkenes based experimental sound and visual artist 1999Q works with various filming techniques, field recordings and sound processing in his practice. He focuses on the questions of flickering identity, social and cultural alienation, in the context of geopolitical turbulence and distortions of individual and collective memory

On Friday 23 May join an atmospheric live set by Lisa Stenberg at Experimental cinema and moving images week

Stockholm based sound artist rooted from Northern Sweden Lisa Stenberg will immerse the audience into the atmospheric live electronic set in the corridors of the former hospital of Kirkenes

Her pieces, which are often site-specific and catered towards each location’s unique acoustic properties, are at once intimate and intense; slow-burning instrumental and electroacoustic compositions that steadily unfold to reveal hidden depth

Filmed entirely with an industrial thermal camera, Failed Emptiness describes a three-week vacation in the middle of a heatwave. It shows rituals of domestic life, an individual seeking and losing own identity in the crowd.

Láibmat II (2024) by Margrethe Pettersen

Healing ritual, together with the river, turned into a video, field recordings of the site and voices of the artists

Margrethe Pettersen’s work is site-specific. She is particularly interested in the relationship between humans and nature, not in their separation, a theme she repeatedly explores in her works. Her own identity, her Sami roots, and the oral tradition of knowledge production are methods that she incorporates into her artistic practice
