Okay, this is actually pretty scary. 😄
Here is the result, my very first track: “That’s Right.” I started from scratch (I even had to download the software 🙈) and ended up with a full-fledged track thanks to the Toolroom Production Certificate Course . I was mentored by top producers and , for whom I have enormous respect. Of course, because of their enviable wealth of knowledge and their ability to convey it as teachers, but above all because it’s clear that they have your best interests at heart and want to help you whenever possible. Thank you so, so much—it was amazing! 🫶 Admittedly, as you know, my proces had its ups and downs 😄, but I’m incredibly happy that I got to learn this from you and to meet you guys.🙏

So, after 12 weeks of working really hard, being overly enthusiastic, eager to learn, frustrated, satisfied, uncertain, almost anxious 😊, and hyper again, the Toolroom Production Certificate Course has come to an end. Last week, we listened to each other’s tracks during the final sessions, and the quality of everyone’s work was incredible! 🙌

This course was truly fantastic. I’ve gotten to know new people who share the same passion—that’s truly invaluable. And I’ve learned so much. Not just about how to make a track in Ableton and how the (complicated) program works, but also about things like sound choices, arrangement, and music theory. That’s the professionalism the Toolroom Team brings to the table.

A whole new world has opened up for me. Call it naive, but I only just realized that when you’re making a house track, you’re actually directing an entire band—albeit digitally. With all the elements of a drum kit, a bassist, a pianist, a vocalist, and so on. And then making sure it all fits together perfectly. It’s incredibly difficult to create a truly strong, professional track—and then mix and master it so it doesn’t sound amateurish. That alone is a craft in itself! But I’m so hooked and definitely going to keep at it. And hey, I actually made my own track! The result? I’ll let you hear it soon.😊

Life lately. 💻😄 I don’t have my own studio (yet?😉), but I’ve practically been sleeping with Ableton lately! I’m halfway through the Toolroom Production Certificate Course now, and it’s truly fantastic. I’m learning so much from the very best instructors. Every Thursday there’s a webinar, after which we have the weekend to work on our track and turn in our homework (by Monday at 9:00 a.m…..🥴). After that, I receive a feedback video, and the instructor goes through my project with me, really thinking along with me about the sound and giving very valuable guidance and tips.

So, really excited and working hard on my first track! I’ll keep you posted! ❤️

This was, and still is, so overwhelming. Last Saturday night, I was invited to DJ on the Tech House stage at the fantastic Festival. Alongside all those amazing artists, right after b2b . So yep, there were some nerves…🙈

I still can’t quite wrap my head around what happened. That crowd, the incredible atmosphere, the heartwarming support I felt while I was on stage. The kind words I’m receiving.

I don’t take this for granted. It’s a dream come true. How is it possible to be standing here after all those years of illness? Dancing, interacting, seeing people smile. This was a celebration of life. That’s how it felt. Thank you so, so much.🫶

Also a huge thank you to the Geheime Liefde team for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. Won’t forget this one.🙏

What an evening it was at Klasse Tilburg! A special one, featuring DJ . Although we didn’t know each other, years ago he was willing to come and DJ for free at a benefit party organized for me to raise money for treatment in the U.S. Due to COVID, that party was canceled, but how amazing is it that after all these years, he’s still on the lineup. And on top of that, at our very own event—a life I never thought I’d be able to lead again. There are kind people in the world. I’m so grateful to him.🙏
