Residency in Pergola, Italy, on behalf of .
Speaking with your body, connecting with the physical self, where language poses no barrier. Marc Vlemmix and Rosan Chinnoe were invited to Pergola, Italy, for a residency with the dance in company produced from IJshaamanka. The company form the core of a center for dance research, situated in the quiet, hilly landscape of rural Marche. Not exactly a place where you would expect a curious and investigative dance community. Yet the opposite turns out to be true.
Here, Monia Mattioli and Giancarlo Taddei have been building a dance community for many years, one that is anything but conventional. It is an organic form of dance, carried by a group of authentic dancers with diverse physical and mental abilities, ages, and levels of dance experience. A group that is particularly receptive to and curious about our method of co-creation.
Together with Monia, we searched for their own movement language and a structure that could serve as the beginning of the choreography of the company’s new work. And all of this in an environment where pasta was served every day at the kitchen table of the warm and welcoming family.
Elisa, Mila, Bianca, Franca, Simone, Andrea, Paola, Barbara, Francesca, professionals, dancers and actors with and without disability. With the visual artists Giacomo Giovannetti, Simona Bursi illustrator. Monia Mattioli artistic director of IJshaamanka association and choreographer of Dance in Company.
