In less than 2 weeks it's time for Hashtag Festival!! Looking forward to this one because this time I will be playing a style that I've been listening for over 2 decades: Hardtechno! No, not the Hardtechno you hear these days but the good old Schranz! A hidden love that I was able to play a few times before in the past! Heavy ritmic driven beats which will make you move like crazy!

Back in the days I kept track of all the daily new Hardstyle releases till I reached a certain point that the sound of Hardstyle didn't attract me anymore. That's why I stuck to Early Hardstyle for all those years!
But lately some new releases started to gain my attention again. Many tracks have those recognizable samples from the Early Hardstyle days which I think is very cool! So I was doubting if I should make a mix with a selection of the 'NEW' Hardstyle. Well, all doubts aside, here it is, the first fresh new, 158 BPM mix of 2026!!

When I saw the line up reveal for the upcoming event Reminder at the 14th of March, with DHHD as a main act, I knew I had to do something. To pay a tribute to some of the biggest and longest active Dutch Early Hardstyle DJ's in the scene:

Chiren

Better know as: Luna Meets Trilok & Chiren aka DHHD aka DHHD Extreme

When I first heard tracks like So Many More, We Control The Sound, Rush and Funky S**t, I was hooked! Instant FAN!

Here's a small bit of history of how it all started for them;

DJ Luna was the main act on the celebration 'Reversion' in Den Helder, somewhere in 2002. Chiren made the anthem for that party. Every hour, a fragment of that track was played. Luna wanted to know who had made the track. So Luna and Chiren met on that party and talked a bit. They had the same ideas about music. They decided to go into the 'studio', a room of 1.5 by 2.5 meters with almost no equipment, together with DJ Trilok, a friend of Chiren. The first track they made was Union One. When they had finished more tracks, they had to come up with a name, and that was DHHD. The letters stand for the cities where the members of DHHD come from:

DH - Den Haag - DJ Luna
HD - Den Helder - DJ Trilok & Chiren

The HD from Den Helder is mirrored, because Den Helder was first called Huis Duinen. On the fishingboats from Den Helder you can still read HD. That's how they got the name DHHD.

Hi people!

Here’s a new tribute mix I’ve made and this time it’s all about Sensation, the Black edition! Here’s a bit of history about Sensation Black;

Sensation Black was a Dutch dance festival organized from 2002 to 2012, focusing on "darker" music genres such as hardstyle and hardcore. In 2007, the name was changed to "Black" to avoid confusion with the international festival Sensation (formerly Sensation White). The festival was initially held at the Amsterdam ArenA, later at the Ethias Arena in Hasselt, Belgium.

Music style: Sensation Black was known for its focus on harder dance genres, such as hardstyle and hardcore. This was a contrast to the original "Sensation," which focused on trance and house.

Development: The event began in 2002 and ran at the Amsterdam ArenA until 2008.

Relocation: Subsequent editions, up to and including 2012, were held at the Ethias Arena in Hasselt, Belgium.

Name change: In 2007, the name was changed to "Black" to distinguish it from the international festival "Sensation." There was also a special edition at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp in 2007.

Although I had never attended any editions of Sensation myself, I did had a lot of the compilations in my collection. I've selected, in my opinion, some of the coolest tracks that defined the first few hours from the earlier Black editions. Starting with some groovy club-techno tracks and build up towards some pumping Hard Trance in combination with a few Early Hardstyle tracks!
