The question that changed the room…
I asked him a simple question at an event:
“Why haven’t you been in a relationship for a while now?”
I honestly expected a light, casual answer… maybe even a joke.
But his response came calm, direct, and very intentional.
He said:
“At my level now, I’m not ready to be with someone… or a lady who hasn’t found herself.”
And that answer sat differently.
Because it wasn’t loud—but it carried depth.
In that moment, I realized something about relationship etiquette…
Not every “no” is rejection. Sometimes it is standards. Sometimes it is clarity. Sometimes it is someone who understands what they are building and who they are willing to build with.
It made me reflect on something important:
A green flag is not just attraction… it is alignment.
It is meeting someone who is not just looking for love, but looking for self-aware love.
Because when someone is still trying to find themselves, relationships can become confusion instead of connection.
But when two people are grounded, aware, and growing intentionally—love becomes partnership, not pressure.
So maybe the real question is not just why someone is single…
But:
“Am I becoming someone who aligns with the kind of relationship I desire?”
Because in the end, relationship etiquette is about readiness, not just romance.
