TEMPORARY POST — NOT CAKE RELATED 🐕

Please, dog owners, I need answers!

Whenever my dogs mate, they get stuck together, and I honestly feel so bad watching them because it can take an hour or even two before they finally separate. 😩

I’ve always wondered if this is a medical condition or if there’s actually a scientific explanation for it.

Dog owners, veterinarians and experienced breeders—please educate me! Is this normal, and why does it happen? And has your dog ever kept you this worried during mating? 👇

When I was just starting, I used a large cooler that could accommodate 2–3 sizeable cakes. I’d get enough ice blocks, place the cakes properly inside the cooler, and arrange the ice blocks around them to keep them chilled.

Very important: Make sure the cakes are properly protected and positioned so melted ice or water cannot get into them. Keep the cooler clean and closed as much as possible, and replace the ice when necessary.

⚠️ Food-safety warning: A cooler is only a temporary workaround, not a substitute for proper refrigeration. Cakes containing whipped cream, cream cheese, custard, fresh dairy or other highly perishable fillings need reliable temperature control. If you cannot keep the cake safely chilled, don’t risk serving or selling it.

When I started, I worked with what I had while gradually upgrading my equipment. Start where you are, but always put food safety first. ❤️

Now be honest—if you were just starting your cake business with no fridge or freezer, would you try this method? Or would you wait until you could afford a refrigerator? 👀👇

You put the cake in the oven, and everything looks perfect.
It rises beautifully, you’re already imagining that gorgeous finished cake… then suddenly BOOM! — the centre sinks. 😭

So what went wrong?

A cake that rises and then collapses can be caused by several things:

• Opening the oven too early — the structure may not have set enough to support the rise.
• Too much raising agent — excess baking powder or baking soda can make the cake rise rapidly and then fall.
• Too much liquid or sugar — this can weaken the cake structure.
• Underbaking — the cake may look risen on top while the centre is still too soft.
• Wrong oven temperature — a very high temperature can cause the cake to rise quickly before the inside has properly set.
• Overmixing or poor mixing — depending on the recipe and method, this can affect the cake's structure.
• Incorrect measurements — baking is not the place to freestyle your measurements!
• A recipe with an unstable ratio — sometimes the problem isn't your hands; the formula itself may be the culprit.

And please, don't immediately conclude that “my baking powder is bad” every time a cake sinks.

The important thing is to look at the whole baking process: your recipe, measurements, mixing method, pan size, oven temperature and baking time.

A beautiful rise is not the final goal. The cake must have enough structure to hold that rise.

Bakers, what is the most common reason you have seen for a cake rising beautifully and then collapsing?

Why do people compliment a horrible-looking cake instead of telling the baker the truth? 🤔

Sometimes, we say “Wow, beautiful!” when the cake clearly needs improvement, simply because we don’t want to hurt the baker’s feelings.

But is that really helping them? 🤷🏽‍♀️

Be honest with me: if a baker showed you a cake that wasn’t good, would you tell them the truth or still compliment them? And WHY? 👀👇🏽

Forget the usual “What’s your favourite cake flavour?” question.

Let’s make it personal! 😜

If you were a cake, what flavour would you be?

Would you be Red Velvet — classy, rich and always getting attention? ❤️

Chocolate — deep, bold and impossible to ignore? 🍫

Vanilla — simple, elegant and loved by almost everyone? 🤍

Coconut — sweet, unique and definitely not everybody’s choice? 🥥

Carrot Cake — underrated but surprisingly amazing? 🥕😂

Or maybe Fruit Cake — packed with layers, character and a little bit of everything? 😅

And please, don't just tell me the flavour…

Tell us WHY you chose it! 👇🏽😂

Let’s see which cake flavour has the most interesting personality in this comment section!

Should cake be kept in the fridge, freezer, or simply stored at room temperature?

Because I see people put every cake inside the refrigerator as soon as it is baked, thinking that’s automatically the best way to preserve it.

But here’s the problem:

The refrigerator can actually make an uncovered cake dry faster. 😳

Cold air circulates inside the fridge and can cause moisture to migrate out of the cake, especially when the cake is not properly wrapped or covered.

So what is the better approach?

For a cake you plan to consume within a short period, proper packaging and an airtight environment are extremely important.

For longer storage, freezing can be a better option. Wrap the cake properly in food-safe plastic wrap, followed by another protective layer or airtight container, to reduce moisture loss and prevent the cake from absorbing unwanted fridge/freezer smells.

And for decorated cakes, storage also depends on the type of frosting, filling and decoration. A buttercream cake, whipped-cream cake, fondant cake and a cake containing perishable fillings may have completely different storage requirements.

One more thing many people overlook:

Don't package a hot cake.

Allow the cake to cool properly before wrapping or storing it. Trapping excessive heat and condensation can create problems with texture and spoilage.

So, preservation isn't simply about asking:

“Fridge or no fridge?”

It is about understanding the type of cake, ingredients used, storage duration, temperature and how well the cake is packaged.

Now let's hear from the bakers 👇🏽

FRIDGE OR FREEZER — which one do you believe preserves cake better, and WHY?

I see bakers argue about cake recipes all the time:

“Oil cake is better.”
“No, butter cake is better.”
“Sponge cake is the best.”
“My vanilla cake is soft, so yours should be soft too.”

But here’s the problem…

You cannot properly compare cakes without understanding their CLASS. 👀

Butter cake, oil-based cake, sponge cake, chiffon cake, foam cake, fruit cake and cheesecake are not formulated or made the same way.

So why do we sometimes take one recipe, change the ingredients or mixing method and still expect the exact same result?

And here is where I may step on some toes:

👉 A cake being soft does NOT automatically mean it is a good cake.

👉 A moist cake does NOT automatically mean the formula is balanced.

👉 A cake that doesn't need sugar syrup is NOT proof that every other cake shouldn't use it.

👉 And a recipe working for you does NOT mean it is universally the best recipe.

Different classes of cakes have different purposes, structures, textures and techniques.

The real skill is not just memorising recipes.

The real skill is knowing WHY you are using a particular formula and method.

So let’s debate this properly 👇🏽

Which class of cake do you think produces the BEST celebration cake—BUTTER, OIL-BASED, SPONGE, CHIFFON or something else?

And please… defend your answer.
