A friend of mine became a mum last year. Before that, she was the type to sleep till noon, travel light, and forget to eat if she was busy.

Then her baby came.

Now her alarm is a cry at 2am, 4am, 6am. She hasn’t had a full night’s sleep in 11 months. Her phone gallery is 90% baby photos, 10% blurry food she never finished. She can diagnose a fever by touch, tell hunger cries from tired cries, and carry a baby, a diaper bag, and a conversation all at once.

Last week she told me: I don’t feel special. I just feel tired.
I told her, That’s the thing. You show up tired, scared, unsure and you still choose your child first. That’s what makes you a mother. That’s your crown.

Nobody sees the 3am rocking, the skipped meals, the prayers whispered over a sleeping baby. But it’s there. And it’s heavy. And it’s beautiful.

Mums, what’s one thing you do every day that nobody sees but you know matters
