Dear Judy Austin Yul Edochiechie,
Please, on behalf of many single mothers, do not include us in this particular conversation.
First, let me say that while I do not support online bullying, I also do not agree with some of your actions. In fact, I was criticized recently for telling people to stop attacking you. I did that because I believe nobody deserves endless dragging on social media, not because I support everything you do.
Many people keep saying women are angry simply because you married Yul, but I don’t think that’s the whole story. For a lot of people, the pain comes from how everything played out afterward. A woman lost her first son, and during that period, many felt that more sensitivity and empathy should have been shown.
As for the statement about single mothers praying for someone to help them raise their children, please understand that many single mothers do not see another woman’s husband as the solution to their struggles. Most are working hard every day to provide for their children and build a future for them.
If love comes again through a responsible single man, a widower, or a divorcee, that’s beautiful. If it doesn’t, many will still continue raising their children with dignity and strength.
Every adult must take responsibility for the choices they make. The attention, criticism, and backlash surrounding your relationship today did not happen in isolation. Some of it stems from decisions that were made publicly and confidently.
So please, tell your story if you must, but kindly leave single mothers out of it. Our journeys, struggles, and hopes are different, and we would rather speak for ourselves.
Thank you 🙏
