COMFORT SHOULDN’T STOP YOUR GROWTH.
Dear young person,
The fact that you are comfortable today does not mean you will remain comfortable forever.
Right now, you may be a student whose needs are still being taken care of.
Your upkeep comes.
Someone asks if you have eaten.
Someone worries about your school fees.
Someone helps with your transportation.
Someone is paying the rent.
Someone is making sure there is light, water, food and data.
And honestly, that is a beautiful thing.
Be grateful for it.
But while you are enjoying that support, I want you to pause and ask yourself:
“What am I building for myself?”
Because one day, the phone call may change.
Nobody may ask, “Do you have enough money to eat?”
Instead, people may start asking, “Can you help me?”
Your expenses will increase.
Your responsibilities will increase.
The things you once considered “small bills” will suddenly become your responsibility.
And if you spent all those years enjoying comfort without preparing yourself, the transition can become painful.
This is why you must start now.
Not because you hate where you are.
Not because you are ungrateful for the help you receive.
But because you understand that support is a season, and seasons change.
Learn something.
Develop a skill.
Start that small business.
Read books.
Build useful relationships.
Save when you can.
Try things.
Fail.
Learn.
Start again.
Do something that your future self will thank you for.
Don't wait until you are completely broke, desperate and overwhelmed before you start thinking about your future.
It is easier to build when you have something supporting you than when you are building from a place of complete lack.
Don't wait until survival becomes your motivation before you start preparing for success.
And please, don't confuse being provided for with being prepared.
Someone paying your bills today doesn't mean you shouldn't learn how to pay your own bills tomorrow.
Someone feeding you today doesn't mean you shouldn't learn how to feed yourself tomorrow.
Someone creating opportunities for you today doesn't mean you shouldn't learn how to create opportunities for yourself.
Be grateful for the hands that are helping you, but don't remain dependent on those hands forever.
Comfort is good.
But comfort without growth can quietly become a trap.
So enjoy the season you are in—but build while you are there.
Prepare while you are being supported.
Grow while you are comfortable.
Build while you still have room to make mistakes.
Because the goal is not simply to move from being provided for to providing for yourself.
The goal is to become someone who can stand, provide, create, and make an impact when your season changes.
🌱 Don't let a comfortable today make you unprepared for tomorrow.
