International Women’s Day 2025 – A Message from the UIA President Regina Gonthier 📢

“For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.”

On 8 March 2025, the UIA reaffirms its commitment to gender equality in architecture. While progress has been made, persistent inequalities and global crises threaten hard-won gains.

Women architects remain underrepresented, but the UIA is fostering change: in 2023-2026, all 13 UIA Work Programmes and 5 out of 6 Commissions are co-directed by women architects.

Equality is not just about women’s empowerment—it’s about a fairer world for all. We must stay vigilant and committed to real progress.
