Joseph Oche Udeh, popularly known as Big Smart, is an award-winning Afrobeats hypeman, MC, entertainer, and talent manager taking African entertainment to the global stage. Known for his infectious energy, commanding stage presence, and elite crowd engagement, he has become a standout voice in the Afrobeats live-entertainment scene.
In 2026, Big Smart made history as the inaugural winner of Best Hypeman/MC at AFRIMMA, held in Dallas, Texas. He also won Best MC/Hypeman at the GADA Awards 2026, adding to his recognition as Africa’s Number One Hype Man for 2023 and American Afrobeats MC/Hypeman of the Year. He was also invited to join the Recording Academy’s Class of 2026.
His international hosting portfolio includes AFRIMMA 2026, Afrotunes, the 2025 Grammy Pre-Party and After-Party, Taste of Africa, and Afro Fest Dallas. His journey spans Nigeria, the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, Dubai, and other African markets, with experience sharing stages and working in entertainment settings alongside Davido, Wizkid, 2Baba, Magnito, Ice Prince, and Goya Menor.
Beyond the mic, Big Smart is the founder of Finish Media, an entertainment and experiential media company, and Star Trace Movement, an initiative focused on talent discovery and development. He currently manages Nigerian-American artist Kwate and previously managed Goya Menor, during whose career “Ameno Amapiano (Remix)” with Nektunez won Best Street-Hop Artiste at The Headies 2022.
Now based in New York, Big Smart continues to bridge African music and global audiences through live entertainment, artist development, brand activations, and creative media.
