Some love stories begin with long conversations, others with chance encounters — but for Anthony and Joy, it all started with a bold, humorous declaration.
Their paths first crossed in 2016 in Makurdi, where Joy was a student at Benue State University and Anthony studied at the Federal University of Agriculture. Though the schools were miles apart, fate had its script ready. One evening, Joy visited her childhood friend — who happened to be Anthony’s neighbor. Passing by, Anthony spotted a beautiful girl standing outside. With playful courage, he walked up to her and said, “Please wait for me, I need to rush to class, but I’ll come back because I want to marry you.”
Joy laughed, her friends teased, and in a flash she was gone — back to her campus. But for Anthony, this wasn’t a fleeting moment. Determined, he sought her out, discovered they were from the same hometown, and during the semester break, instead of heading home to Abuja, he went straight to her family house to make his intentions known.
That intentional step planted the seed of a love story that has grown beautifully over the years. From a playful comment outside a neighbor’s house to a lifetime commitment, Anthony and Joy’s journey proves that true love finds a way — and when it does, it stays.
Now, nearly a decade later, their hearts are set on forever as they prepare to say “I do” on 13th September 2025.
