I was MCing a wedding recently when a group of young men stormed in, demanding their "settlement" – aka drinks and kolanuts. I mean, these guys were straight-up threatening to shut down the party if they didn't get what they wanted. What caught my attention wasn't just their boldness but the audacity and entitlement they had. I almost laughed, not because it was funny, but because of the confidence they exuded, like they were entitled to it by birthright.

Now, I'm not gonna lie, it was a bit of a tense moment, but I managed to calm them down and get the party started again. But let's get real, it was avoidable. So, to all the non-Igalas out there planning to tie the knot in Igala land, here's a pro tip: don't forget to settle the community youths. Trust me, you don't want to be on the receiving end of their "negotiation" tactics.

Ask your in-laws if the youths have been taken care of, and if not, try to settle them. It's like paying a wedding tax, but less painful if you just pay up. Your sanity (and your wedding ceremony) will thank you.
