Malaysia’s independent music scene took centre stage on 14 June 2026 as PADU The Album hosted an exclusive listening experience at Mantra Bar, Kuala Lumpur, attended by around 100 guests from the music, media, nightlife and creative industries.
Led by acclaimed DJ Pri2 and Poovilashini (Poovi), PADU is a celebration of unity, cultural identity and the evolution of Malaysian independent music. The bilingual project features five tracks and two music videos, blending Malay and English storytelling through hip hop and alternative influences.
The album brings together a strong lineup of local talents, including , , , , , Adam Imanullah, Axtin and Shane Kennedy. Collectively, they showcase the diversity and collaborative spirit that continue to shape Malaysia’s contemporary music landscape.
PADU’s journey began as a simple bedroom concept without the backing of a major studio or record label. Through determination and a shared vision, the project grew into a fully realised album with support from MyCreative Ventures.
The title PADU draws inspiration from “perpaduan,” meaning unity, reflecting the coming together of artists from different backgrounds and genres. It also references the popular Malaysian slang “padu,” often used to describe something exceptional and impactful.
Supported by MyCreative Ventures under the Ministry of Communications Malaysia and presented as part of the Malaysia MADANI initiative, PADU highlights a new generation of locally driven creative projects where music, culture and community intersect.
As anticipation builds ahead of its official release, PADU stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and the ability of independent creators to transform humble beginnings into meaningful artistic achievements.
