Daniel Doughty FCILT, APR, FCILT, APR, President of the Labuan Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Malaysia Sabah Section, as Moderator for Panel Session 4: Industrial Development & Investment Opportunities in Sabah's O&G & Clean Energy Sectors.

A respected industry strategist, technologist and Accredited Public Relations Practitioner, Daniel brings more than two decades of leadership experience across logistics, transportation, maritime services, oil and gas, investment facilitation, economic development and public policy.

Through his roles in industry organisations, advisory panels and strategic consulting, he works closely with government agencies, investors, industry leaders and policymakers to advance regional competitiveness, trade facilitation, infrastructure development and investment opportunities across Sabah, Labuan and the wider BIMP-EAGA region.

As a respected engineering professional and industry leader, Datuk Ir. Ts. Mohd Yaakob has been instrumental in driving Sabah’s energy transformation agenda, strengthening grid reliability and championing sustainable power development across Sabah and Labuan.

Since his appointment as CEO in March 2022, he has played a pivotal role in strengthening Sabah’s electricity infrastructure, driving energy transformation initiatives, and advancing sustainable power development across the state.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power) from Universiti Teknologi MARA and is certified as a 275kV Competent Electrical Engineer by the Energy Commission of Malaysia. Professionally, he is a registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia and a registered Professional Technologist with the Malaysia Board of Technologists. He previously served as Chairman of The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sabah Branch and was also an Executive Committee member of CIGRE Malaysia.

🔋 Under his leadership, Sabah Electricity continues to advance major initiatives in renewable energy integration, energy security and infrastructure modernisation, including the development of one of Southeast Asia’s largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, regarded as one of the largest in Southeast Asia, aimed at enhancing grid stability and supporting the expansion of renewable energy generation in Sabah.
