Prize Giving Ceremony of the National Urdu Examinations 2025/2026, held on Saturday 19 September at the Islamic Cultural Centre, Port Louis, organised by the Urdu Speaking Union in collaboration with the National Urdu Institute.
It was a real pleasure to see our students receive the recognition they had worked for, surrounded by their educators, families and well-wishers. The ceremony honoured prize winners at the national examinations at PSAC, NCE, SC and HSC levels, as well as students who distinguished themselves in the Qabl-e-Ibtidai, Ibtidai, Adeeb, Adeeb Mahir and Adeeb Kamil examinations, conducted annually by the National Urdu Institute.
Beyond the prizes, the afternoon was also about encouraging our young people to keep learning Urdu and keeping the language very much alive for the generations to come.
A special moment from our Prize Giving Ceremony was the presentation of the Dr Swabir Goodur O.S.K. Memorial Award to Mr Farook Budally, in recognition of his long-standing service and contribution to the promotion of Urdu in Mauritius.
This award, introduced by the Urdu Speaking Union in 2025, honours those whose years of dedication have left a meaningful mark on the Urdu language and its community.
Our warmest congratulations to Mr Farook Budally on this well-deserved recognition and to all our awardees.
Thank you to everyone who shared this special afternoon with us ❤️
