Discovering & Developing Future Olympians to Deliver Medals on the Global Stage In late 2012, independent filmmaker Bambo Akani started the journey of making the documentary Making of Champions: “The History”, after being tired of seeing Nigeria, blessed with so many people of natural athletic ability, underperform at the pinnacle of sports, the Olympic Games. Making of Champions: “The History” is

a feature length documentary charting the rise and fall of Nigerian Athletics chronicles Nigeria’s full Olympic Medal History in Track & Field, and lays the foundation for how Nigeria can return to reckoning on the world stage and even dominate the sport in years to come! It features many of Nigeria’s Olympic Stars of time past, such as Innocent Egbunike, Mary Onyali-Omagbemi, Falilat Ogunkoya-Omotayo, Enefiok Udo-Obong, Francis Obikwelu and Glory Alozie! The ultimate goal for the Making of Champions: “The History” is to awaken Nigerians and West Africans to the vast potential of the country and region in Track and Field, rekindle the interest for the sport, and start a movement that will enable Team Nigeria to once again compete with the best in the world! Making of Champions Limited (www.makingofchamps.com) is a Sports Management & Film-Making Company set up to elevate the profile and performance of Sports in Nigeria and the rest of Africa, and is dedicated to maximising the potential that sports has to bring the country, and the continent on a whole, together. Favour Onyah 🇳🇬 has just qualified for her first NCAA 400m final!!

The SE Louisiana athlete finished really strong in her prelim, coming through to finish 3rd in a time of 51.00s and book her spot in Saturday's final.

Chioma Nwachukwu finished 4th in the same heat, missing out with a time of 51.41s, while Esther Joseph posted 51.52s for 5th place in the first heat.

Tima Godbless 🇳🇬 storms into the final of the women's 100m at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, dropping her best performance of the year with a time of 11.08s (0.3)!

She finished 2nd in her heat behind Shenese Walker who ran 10.94s.

Godbless has struggled with injuries in 2026, having to sit out the indoor season completely as a result.

The first African team to play a game at the 2026 World Cup, South Africa, suffered a defeat in the opening game of the tournament, losing to Mexico.

Chinecherem Prosper Nnamdi 🇳🇬 has just become the first Nigerian man to win a NCAA Javelin title, sending his implement out to a big first round throw of 82.26m!

He wins the NCAA Championships in Eugene ahead of Keyshawn Strachan who reached a best of 80.65m and Jack Larriviere with 77.91m.

Both of Nnamdi's two throws over 80 metres were good enough for the win.

Just 1 hour after his 100m win, Israel Okon 🇳🇬 easily won his 200m heat at the NCAA Championships in a time of 20.07s (0.1)!

He had enough time to toy with the field, easing up and galloping to the finish ahead of Eddie Nketia who posted 20.24s, followed by Jordan Urrutia in 20.36s.

He was the fastest qualifier for the final and will return to defend his NCAA title on Friday.
