The International Labour Organization is Joining the 2026 Career Excellence Seminar

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am super excited to share with you that the third edition of the annual Career Excellence Youth Seminar will be graced with participation from the INTERNATIONAL LABOUR ORGANIZATION

This is a particularly meaningful participation because the ILO’s incredible work around decent work, youth employment, skills development, entrepreneurship and the future of work is deeply aligned with the mission of the Seminar.

Lesotho’s unemployment challenge requires a collaborative response. Government, employers, development partners, educational institutions, professional bodies and young people themselves all have a role to play in building stronger pathways into meaningful economic participation.

The ILO will contribute to these conversations while also engaging participants as an Employer Brands, haring insights into career opportunities within the organisation, the competencies it looks for, and how Basotho professionals can better position themselves for opportunities within international organisations.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the ILO Pretoria Team for warmly receiving our invitation, recognising the value of this initiative, and expressing their openness to continued engagement as we work towards stronger, more sustainable pathways into skills development, decent work and meaningful economic participation for Basotho talent.

Thank you for joining us in a long-term effort to build a stronger bridge between Basotho talent and the institutions, skills, networks and opportunities that can translate potential into decent work and meaningful economic participation.

Global Network of People living with HIV (GNP+) Joins the Career Excellence Seminar Lesotho!

Ladies and gentlemen, it is with immense gratitude that I share with you that the GLOBAL NETWORK OF PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV (GNP+) is one of the global employers being part of the 3rd Annual Career Excellence Youth Seminar,

GNP+ is a global network led by and for people living with HIV, working with national and regional networks to strengthen community leadership and influence HIV policy, treatment, prevention, care and human rights. Its work spans community-led research, global advocacy, movement building and initiatives such as CLAIM, which strengthens participation of people living with HIV in Global Fund processes, and the Love Alliance, which advances rights-based HIV and sexual and reproductive health advocacy across Africa.

Importantly, GNP+ is not new to Lesotho’s HIV response. The organisation supported the implementation of the People Living with HIV Stigma Index 2.0 in Lesotho, conducted by the Lesotho Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS (LENEPWHA) in 2020/2021. The study helped document the lived experiences of Basotho living with HIV, including stigma and discrimination, and contributed evidence to inform advocacy, policy and programming.

In 2025, GNP+ included Lesotho among nine East and Southern African countries in its analysis of HIV Response Sustainability Roadmaps, examining issues including community engagement, sustainable financing and whether national HIV responses meaningfully reflect the priorities of people living with HIV.

This support from the GNP+ is very meaningful to me as I have leant that Basotho are often less visible in the talent pools of global organisations, not necessarily because they do not qualify, but because they simply are not aware that these opportunities exist, do not know how to reach them, or feel that these global organizations are too distant from them.

Joining us virtually will be Florence Riako Anam, Co-Executive Director of GNP+, for an interactive morning panel discussions. We will explore how professionals can build pathways into areas such as global health, HIV programming, advocacy, policy, community engagement, research, programme management, partnerships, communications and international development, as well as how to identify wider opportunities across GNP+ and its partner ecosystem, including consultancies, research and advocacy engagements, professional-development opportunities and community-led initiatives.

We are also especially appreciative of Inad Quinones Rendon, PLHIV Community Engagement Adviser, whose openness and responsiveness throughout our engagement helped make this participation possible.

Sometimes what a professional needs is not another qualification. Sometimes they need access, information and the confidence to realise: “I can also compete for this.”

So whether you are a student, recent graduate, early-career professional, mid-career professional or experienced specialist, come and join this conversation. This Seminar is for you too.

Thank you, GNP+, for making the world of global opportunities feel a little closer to Basotho professionals. 🇱🇸🌍

THE WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME SHALL BE PART OF THE Career Excellence Youth Seminar

We are incredibly excited to officially announce that the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Lesotho has confirmed its participation in the Career Excellence Youth Seminar 2026.

WFP will join our Executive Leadership Panel Discussion, sharing insights on its work in Lesotho, youth engagement, and the career and professional-development pathways available within the humanitarian and development sector.

For us, this is such a meaningful addition to the Seminar because it gives Basotho professionals the opportunity to hear directly from an organisation many aspire to work with, understand the kind of work WFP does, and learn more about how to better prepare themselves for opportunities within the humanitarian and development space.

We encourage everyone who aspires to work at WFP, the United Nations, or the wider international development sector , to come to the seminar ready to listen, learn, ask questions and understand what it takes to position yourself for opportunities in this space.

Thank you, WFP Lesotho, for believing in the vision and for choosing to invest your time and expertise in Basotho talent. We are honoured to welcome you to Career Excellence 2026.

Too often, employers miss out on great candidates because their application documents do not do justice to their abilities.

Many people struggle to communicate their competencies on paper, yet when given the opportunity to engage in person, they demonstrate remarkable knowledge, confidence and potential.

This is the main reason I created the Career Excellence Youth Seminar: to bring talent and employers into the same room, giving people an opportunity to introduce themselves, ask questions and show more of what they have to offer.

A well-written CV matters. So does the opportunity to put a face, a voice and a conversation to the person behind it.

I would like for employers to discover talent they might otherwise overlook, and candidates to have a fair chance to be seen and heard.

Come prepared. Know your strengths. Be ready to explain the value you can bring. Your next opportunity could begin with a conversation.

"
Build value before you network.

Because everyone wants to connect with someone who has something meaningful to offer.

As you prepare to build strong professional networks at the Career Excellence Youth Seminar, do not only think about what you hope to receive from the people you meet.

Ask yourself:

What value can I bring?
What knowledge, skill, idea, opportunity, perspective, or connection can I offer?

The strongest professional relationships are not built on simply asking for opportunities. They are built on mutual value.

So come prepared not only to introduce yourself, but also to present what you can GIVE.

Carry this message to heart as you prepare to build strong professional networks at the Career Excellence Youth Seminar !

Build value. Come to showcase Value. Then network with confidence
