This August marks a new chapter for Arise. After several weeks of renovation, we’re excited to welcome you back into a refreshed space designed for creating, gathering, and slowing down together. We can’t wait to share our new home with you.

🎨 Korean Folk Painting Workshop

Learn the basics of Minhwa (Korean folk painting) in this beginner-friendly workshop. You’ll explore traditional painting techniques and create your own 20 × 20 cm painting on a wooden panel to take home.

Performers and would-be performers, listen up!

Since launching Nanuja Night last September, we’ve been blown away by the talent, energy, and joy you’ve brought to our stage. None of it would exist without our incredible host Anu and every single performer who has graced the mic.

To make things smoother for everyone, we’re rolling out two changes:

Consistent scheduling — Nanuja Night will now always fall on the last Saturday of the month.

New sign-up method — Click the link in our bio to access a Google Form. Fill in your details, and we’ll confirm your slot at least two weeks before the performance date.

We hope these changes make things easier for performers and audience members alike, so we can keep creating wonderful things together.

While we have your attention, please remember we are totally open to first-time performers and performances of any kind in any language. If you’ve never tried but have always been curious, this is the most encouraging audience you will find to welcome you onto the stage.

지난 9월 Nanuja Night를 시작한 이래, 여러분이 무대에 가져다준 재능과 열정, 그리고 즐거움에 정말 감동받고 있습니다. 우리의 멋진 진행자 Anu와 마이크를 잡아준 모든 공연자분들이 없었다면 불가능했을 것입니다.

모두를 위해 행사 운영을 더 원활하게 만들고자, 두 가지 변화를 안내드립니다:

고정 일정 — 앞으로 Nanuja Night는 매월 마지막 주 토요일에 열립니다.

새로운 참가 신청 방식 — 프로필 링크를 클릭해 구글 폼을 작성해 주세요. 정보를 입력하시면 공연일 최소 2주 전에 슬롯을 확정해 드립니다.

이 변화가 공연자분들과 관객분들 모두에게 더 편리한 경험을 제공하고, 함께 멋진 것들을 계속 만들어갈 수 있기를 바랍니다.

그리고 이 자리를 빌려 한 가지 더 말씀드립니다. 우리는 처음 공연을 하시는 분, 어떤 종류의 공연, 그리고 어떤 언어로든 모두 환영합니다. 한 번도 시도해 보지 않았지만 항상 궁금하셨다면, 무대로 가장 따뜻하게 맞이해 줄 관객이 바로 여기에 있습니다.

Five artists came together for the first Arise Press Zine Circle.
From photography and collage to film, fiction, and community publishing, each participant developed and completed an original zine. These works will be traveling with us to Sābrs Zine Festival in Riga this summer. The zines will also be available to browse at Arise Art Space. If you’d like to purchase a copy, feel free to send us a message or contact the artists directly ✨

1–2. VISUM — Yuhee Kim
A field guide to the invisible universe known as “the Layer” and the evidence of its encroachment into our world.

3–4. Legendary Film Quotes — Anastasia
A collection of memorable film quotes, stills, and references inspired by a lifelong love of cinema.

5–6. Give Em Enough Rope: A World Upside Down — Chandre Mau
A raw, topsy-turvy world of animal-human hybrids exploring inversion, absurdity, and shifting hierarchies.

7–8. For All the Weeds — Jacki Ortiz
A poetic series of photographs celebrating the beauty of what we often dismiss as w**ds. Dedicated to anyone who has ever felt like a w**d surrounded by flowers.

9–10. Stitch Together — Minni Honeychurch
An introductory zine for a Busan-based craft community, exploring creativity, connection, and making together.

다섯 명의 참가자들이 첫 번째 어라이즈 진서클에 함께했습니다.
사진, 콜라주, 영화, 픽션, 커뮤니티 출판 등 서로 다른 관심사와 작업 방식 속에서 각 참가자는 자신만의 색이 담긴 진을 기획하고 완성했습니다. 완성된 작품들은 이번 여름 라트비아 리가에서 열리는 Sābrs Zine Festival에 함께 소개될 예정입니다. 이번에 제작된 진은 어라이즈에서 자유롭게 열람하실 수 있으며, 구매를 원하시는 경우 DM 또는 작가분들께 직접 문의해 주세요 ✨

동물과 인간이 뒤섞인 존재들이 살아가는 뒤집힌 세계를 통해 전복과 부조리, 그리고 뒤바뀐 위계질서를 탐구하는 진.

우리가 흔히 잡초라 부르는 존재들의 아름다움을 담아낸 사진 연작. 꽃들 사이에서 잡초처럼 느껴본 모든 이들에게 바치는 작업.

9–10. Stitch Together — 미니 허니처치
부산을 기반으로 활동하는 공예 커뮤니티를 소개하는 진. 창작과 연결, 그리고 함께 만드는 즐거움.
