One thing I enjoy about weeks like this is that there isn’t really a “right” way to join.
Some people prefer sitting under the city lights at a picnic. Others enjoy wandering through quieter neighborhoods or dropping into a conversation on Discord after work.
Different formats, different conversations, but always a chance to spend a little time with good people.

One thing I enjoy about picnics is how naturally conversations unfold. Some people arrive knowing nobody. A few hours later they’re exchanging stories, making plans, or simply enjoying the atmosphere together.

No agenda. No pressure. Just a few hours outdoors with good people.

This weekend we spent a few hours painting postcards, making small crafts, and getting to know new people in Tokyo.

One thing I enjoy about these afternoons is that there’s no pressure to be “good” at anything. Some people spend the whole time creating, others mostly chat, and both seem to work equally well.

Making friends as an adult can sometimes feel surprisingly complicated.

Sometimes all it takes is a table, a creative project, and a few hours with good people.
Have you picked up any creative hobbies lately?

A quieter late May week in Tokyo 🌿
A mix of conversations, games, creativity, and time outside.

This week at Tokyo Expat Social Club:

🎙 Wed, May 27 — Tokyo Talk Time (Discord)
🕗 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM

🎯 Fri, May 29 — Darts & Social Night
🕡 6:45 PM – 9:00 PM
📍 Shibuya EST

🎨 Sat, May 30 — Creative Social
🕒 3:00 PM – 5:45 PM
📍 Impact HUB Tokyo

🏐 Sun, May 31 — Beach Volleyball & Social
🕟 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM
📍 Omori Furusato no Hamabe Park

Some people come to meet new people, others come to slow down a little after a long week. Both tend to fit naturally here. Most people join alone, and conversations usually form pretty easily along the way.

Some weekends feel lighter after a good walk and a few conversations.

Tonight we walked through Tokyo as the city slowly shifted into evening — from Shiba Park and Tokyo Tower toward the quieter parts of the city.

No big agenda. Just people spending time together, meeting new faces, reconnecting with familiar ones, and enjoying the feeling of being outside for a while. Tokyo can feel surprisingly small in moments like this.

What’s your favorite area to walk around in Tokyo lately?
