平安神宮茶会お越しくださったみなさま、ありがとうございました。

今年は神苑の非公開スポット「遥拝所」での野点。ここは平安神宮本殿が設けられる予定だったスポットですが、生垣には宮内庁陵墓参考地、そして皇居と伊勢神宮を拝する遥拝の目印、超有名歌舞伎役者お手植えの樹木が。

また来年も平安神宮茶会はありますし、次は5月5日の世界遺産元離宮二条城茶会です。実は京都の名所で外国人観光客でもお上がりいただけるお茶会があるということだけでも知っておいてください。

「瀧直下三千尺」

The calligraphy on the scroll is by Zen Master Adachi Taido of Daitokuji Temple.The poem was originally written by the Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai.

The water of a waterfall falls down from a great height with great force.

Water has no form of its own and adapts itself to any shape.It does not fight with each other, and it can be a tremendous energy that can shatter rocks.

Such an image of Chinese poetry can be understood in the world of Zen.

宇治市営茶室「対鳳庵」の出仕日。

台湾、オーストラリア、アメリカ、カナダ、ドイツ、中国などからのお越し、ありがとうございました。

お軸は大徳寺足立泰道禅師による書。もとは唐の詩人、李白が詠んだもの。

瀧の水はとんでもなく高いところから勢いよく真下へ落ちる。

水は自らの形がないし、どんな形にも順応する。争いあうこともないし、岩石をも砕くすさまじいエネルギーにもなる。

そんなイメージの漢詩が禅の世界にも通じます。

望廬山瀑布

日照香炉生紫煙
遥看瀑布挂前川
飛流直下三千尺
疑是銀河落九天

A Chinese poem from a history book of Chinese Zen Buddhism, compiled in 1204.

無山不帯雲

The poem was composed as follows.

All water reflects the moon, no matter how pure or muddy, and no mountain is free of clouds.

This is a poem expressing the fact that everyone is equally endowed with the Buddha nature through nature.

1204年に編まれた中国禅宗の歴史書にある漢詩。

もとは

有水皆含月
無山不帯雲

と詠まれたもの。どんな水も清濁拘らず月を映すし、どんな山も雲を帯びないことはない。誰にでも皆平等に仏性が備わっていることを、大自然で表現した詩歌です。

「独坐大雄峰」

A story from China around the 8th century. A certain monk asked Zen Master Hyakujo Ekai, "Have you experienced any miracles in your Zen practice?

The Zen master replied, "I am sitting alone on a high, steep mountain."

Sitting alone on a high, steep mountain is already a miracle. Miracles are neither wealth nor fame. The Zen master astutely replied that it is a miracle to be alive in the here and now.

8世紀頃の中国の話。とある僧侶が百丈懐海禅師にこう質問しました。

「禅を修行して、何か奇跡は起こりましたか？」

すると禅師は「獨坐大雄峰」と答えました。

高く険しい山にひとり座っていることがすでに奇跡。奇跡とは富でも名声でもない。今ここに生きていることこそが奇跡なのだと、禅師がキレよく喝破したのがこの言葉です。

A story about seasonal Japanese sweets.

There was a culture called "Osh*tibumi". In the Heian period (794-1185), a person would intentionally drop a sentence near the person he or she had feelings for and walk away.

There is an insect called "otoshibumi" .In early summer, they lay eggs, and the leaves of the trees on which they lay their eggs form a round shape like a cradle to protect the growth of the larvae.

Inspired by this, the seasonal wagashi is called otoshibumi.

季節の和菓子のお話。

「落とし文」という文化があった。平安時代、想いを寄せる相手の近くで、わざと文を落とし立ち去ること。

オトシブミという虫がいる。初夏になると産卵するが、その際に卵をつけた木の葉をゆりかごのように丸く形成し、幼虫の成長を守る。

これに着想を得た季節の和菓子が「おとしぶみ」なのです。

Tea ceremony at the "Koun-tei", a non-public teahouse at Nijo Castle, a World Heritage Site.

The "Kountei" is a 400 year old building.
It was originally located on Takasegawa Nijo.
It was built in the residence of Ryoui Suminokura, the founder of the Takase River.

世界遺産二条城の非公開茶室「香雲亭」でのお茶会。

「香雲亭」はおよそ400年の歴史がある建築物です。
もとは高瀬川二条にありました。
高瀬川を開削した角倉了以の邸宅に造られたものです。
