🔌 The Italian government is aiming to accelerate the expansion of EV charging infrastructure through its new Competition Bill. The draft legislation includes grants of up to €60,000 for fuel station operators that convert traditional filling stations into EV charging hubs or biofuel refuelling facilities.

⛽ From 1 January 2028, new fuel station licences will only be granted to facilities offering at least one alternative fuel, such as electric charging, hydrogen or biofuels, in line with the European Commission's Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR).

📡 Telecommunications infrastructures are taking on a role that goes far beyond simply connecting people and devices. Today, these structures can evolve into 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, helping detect fires, collect air pollution data, and support more efficient land management.

This is the direction taken by the “𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗔𝗺𝗼 𝗹𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮” project, launched in the State Nature Reserve of the Presidential Estate of Castelporziano (Italy), thanks to the collaboration between INWIT, Legambiente and Ente Regionale RomaNatura, as part of an initiative dedicated to the . 🌿

The initiative targets urban areas where traffic congestion and air pollution remain major daily challenges.

🚛 A key focus is 𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, an issue that is becoming increasingly central in large cities. Deliveries linked to e-commerce and freight transport have a major impact on congestion, emissions and the use of public space. For this reason, the plan includes measures to optimize traffic flows and reduce congestion, emissions, and the environmental impact of e-commerce and freight deliveries.

According to an analysis published by Euronews English through the “Europe in Motion” project, based on data processed by the consulting firm EV Boosters, Europe’s public charging network has reached 1.3 million active charging points, recording a 6% growth in the first four months of 2026.

A few highlights from the analysis:

🇳🇴 Norway represents one of Europe’s most advanced models for e-mobility, combining some of the continent’s lowest EV charging costs with the highest density of fast chargers—around 1.75 fast-charging points per 1,000 inhabitants.
🇳🇱 The Netherlands leads Europe in the number of installed charging points, with over 220,000, while Belgium and Denmark rank among the countries with the densest charging networks.
